Singer/song-writer Dylan J (FKA Dylan Joel) today makes his triumphant return with the heartfelt “Notice Me”, with the melodic firepower of Dylan’s superstar tour mate, Ruel. The single was co-written by Australia’s strongest new voices and produced by 2x GRAMMY nominated Tele Fresco (Lizzo, Leon Bridges). Premiered last night on triple j’s Home & Hosed, the track is available now HERE.
You’ll remember “Notice Me” the way you remember your fav films; no stunts, no overproduction, just honesty. It’s a bold move for Dylan, an artist most at ease switching musical modes and demonstrating the breadth of his talent, which is exactly why it works. Dylan’s co-writer and harmonic foil on “Notice Me” certainly isn’t a dial-in collab; he’s known Ruel since the latter was 12 years old. A duet has been on the cards for the boys for years, but only with this number did they finally make it a reality.
Dylan reminisces, “Ruel and I have been friends for 6 years and we always talked about making a song together. So it’s definitely time we released one.”
Ruel adding “we wrote this song when Dyl was staying at my family’s house around 2-3 years ago. We went in to my little makeshift studio (which only really had a laptop and speakers) then tried to make something we both related to.”

The accompanying music video was written by Dylan and Ruel and directed by Emma Zoller. Dylan adding: “We built most of the concept for this music video together, on the way to FOMO festival in Sydney. Kevin Abstract reached out to Ruel to link up at the festival and I was just tagging along, also helping Ruel get his hours up on his L’s.”
Dylan initially made his name as a rapper, but if you ask him, he’s always wanted to spend more time belting out hooks. That meant putting in the work, including enrolling in a relentless, military style vocal training boot camp, which resulted in a newfound understanding of the dynamism and flex in his voice. Dylan commenting “Man it was crazy, you had to commit upfront to ten weeks before they’d even consider letting you in”.
Following his successful debut (and triple j feature album), Authentic Lemonade, a string of sold out headline shows in Melbourne and support slots for the likes of NF, Jess Glynne and Ruel, the new sound of Dylan J and “Notice Me” is looking to be another powerful step forward for Dylan as he looks to keep writing the music he was always meant to, leaving no question as to what makes Dylan Joel such an “undeniable talent” (TheMusic.com.au).
Stay tuned for more to come from Dylan J.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
