We’re rapt to introduce triple j’s new House Party host, 23 year old hip hop and dance aficionado Ebony Boadu.
Ebony grew up in Western Sydney listening to her parent’s Afrobeat and reggae collections, as well as indie rock anthems thanks to her Guitar Hero addiction. She also regularly tuned into Nina Las Vegas hosting triple j’s House Party back in the day, which is what got her into electronic music. Talk about a breadth of influences!
In 2016 Ebony applied for FBi’s Dance Class, a mentorship program where young women learn to DJ and present radio, which led to hosting spots on FBi Radio, SBS and MTV. Since then, her hip hop expertise and dynamic DJ sets have seen her rise through the Australian club ranks, as well as play sets at Splendour In The Grass and Falls Festival. After well and truly earning her stripes over the last few years, you can now catch Ebony sound tracking your Saturday night House Party on triple j.
Excited to join the triple j fam, Ebony says “When one of my mixes got played on triple j last year, it was a really big accomplishment for me. To now be hosting a weekly show where I can share music with people all over the country is super surreal. When I DJ, I aim to play sets that are as creative and as fun as possible, and there’s no better place to do that than on triple j’s House Party.”
Ebony will make her House Party debut from 6-9pm this Saturday 12 January, and will continue to bring you the party every Saturday night on triple j.
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
