Praise for EILISH GILLIGAN

“She hasn’t disappointed with an introspective growing discography that is emotively charged and candidly filtered. “  Thomas Bleach

“‘Get Well Soon’ has a burnished pop sheen that sparkles and glitters. Deeply imbued in this, though, is the raw melancholy that Gilligan injects in her words” – Backseat Mafia

“Seeing Gilligan manage to release two significant bodies of work in quick succession highlights a musician fully coming into their own as a person and artist.” – The AU Review

“Showcased on ‘Get Well Soon’ is [Gilligan’s] ability to perfectly capture an emotive period of time, packaging up an array of emotions, moods, and feelings and presenting them through excellent, introspective music.” – Purple Sneakers

Today, Eilish Gilligan is excited to share her second EP, First One To Leave The Party. Having taken the opportunity to turn inward and self-produce her debut EP, Hospital, during 2020, Gilligan has returned to her collaborative nature on First One To Leave The Party, which is an aspirational collection of pop songs, Eilish works with producer by David Haddad (Lime Cordiale, Montaigne) and co-writes with Alex Lahey, Gab Strum of Japanese Wallpaper and Lachlan Bostock of Mansionair.

First One To Leave The Party bursts with the most wide-ranging arrangements of Gilligan’s career. As delicate synth melodies weave its way throughout the EP, Gilligan captures a specific moment in time. Each song unfurls another aspect of the final party that Gilligan attended before COVID-19 shut the world down – or at least, how Gilligan wished that final party had played out… Opening track, “Up All Night” is as dynamic as it is playful as Gilligan traces the snap decision to go out and party, to stay up all night, to replace lovers with friends, and to dance with a room full of strangers. “Get Well Soon” is the shared, sacred moment with friends in an Uber, and is followed by a sweet and melancholic ballad, “When You Forget Me”. Nostalgic laden “First One To Leave The Party” sees Gilligan find closure and self-worth, making the grand exit from the party after confessing everything she needed to say to an ex. Closing track, “It’s Not You, It’s Not Me” is the clarity, acceptance, and forgiveness as she emerges from the chrysalis.

Gilligan is deeply excited to return to the stage with an entirely new live show, after spending a year perfecting her craft, streaming performances multiple times a week live from her bedroom through her Twitch channel. Dynamic, electrifying, and expressive, Gilligan’s live show is one to remember – and these stunning new tracks, lauded by triple j, NME, Music Junkee, and more, will stick with you long after you leave the party.
