In 2023, Australia’s acclaimed electronic-soul duo Electric Fields delivered an unforgettable, high-energy performance that lit up Hamer Hall in Melbourne, leaving audiences spellbound as they shared the stage with the prestigious Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

Today, the duo are thrilled to announce the release of this epic live recording—capturing the sheer power and unguarded frailty of every electrifying moment. The highly anticipated album, Electric Fields x Melbourne Symphony Orchestra ‘Live in Concert,’ is set for release Friday, December 6 via ABC Music. Prepare for a breathtaking fusion of contemporary electronic beats and symphonic grandeur.

The first offering from the album is the mesmerising track ‘Shade Away’, the single masterfully blends soulful vocals, cutting-edge electronica, and evocative storytelling. The recording is a sonic journey, weaving Fielding’s native tongue with lush orchestral arrangements, heralding a new era of boundary-pushing soundscapes for the duo.

‘Live In Concert’ marks a significant milestone in Electric Fields’ career. Recorded live with the prestigious Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the album highlights the duo’s ability to seamlessly fuse modern beats with the timeless grandeur of a full symphony orchestra.

The duo reflect on the collaboration and forthcoming release, “Performing with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra was genuine bliss! Hearing out electronic music woven through those organic elements was like floating. We can’t wait for you to feel that!”

Comprised of the extraordinary vocalist Zaachariaha Fielding, whose exalted vocals deliver both intimacy and power, and the visionary producer Michael Ross, Electric Fields continues to create music that transcends conventional boundaries. With lyrics that speak to resilience, empowerment, and the transformative power of light in the face of darkness.

Electric Fields are more than just a musical duo; they are cultural pioneers. In 2024, they represented Australia at Eurovision in Sweden, a crowning achievement after their strong showing in Eurovision – Australia Decides in 2019. Described by Vogue as “movers of the next gen,” they have performed on some of the world’s most iconic stages, including Central Park and the Lincoln Center in New York City, the Australian Open, and the AFL Grand Final, as well as a standout performance for the Los Angeles AAA Gala Event.

The duo’s artistic reach spans far beyond the stage. In 2023, they composed for Baz Luhrmann’s Faraway Downs, produced an award-winning piece for ABC KIDS TV, and debuted a groundbreaking 30-minute composition for Electric Skies at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, which won widespread acclaim. Their one-off live show, INMA, garnered two standing ovations and took home the Pick of the Fringe Award in 2021.

Their orchestral collaboration has already received rave reviews. Their 2022 performance with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra was hailed as “the highlight of the year” by the MSO, leading to an invitation for a remount in 2023. This forthcoming ‘Live In Concert’ album captures the magic of that performance, offering reimagined versions of their most beloved songs like ‘Shade Away’. The album combines Electric Fields’ deep cultural storytelling with the sweeping power of live orchestration, creating an immersive and emotionally charged sonic experience.
