Emily Lubitz releases captivating and hopeful single ‘Begin Again’ + announces debut solo EP release date + tour
“Begin Again is a retro dream while still standing true to Lubitz’s folk roots. With a soaring melody and a heavy yet forward-moving beat Begin Again will have you feeling nostalgic, inspired and ready to create your own new beginning,” – Freya Bennett Ramona Magazine
“a seasoned musician and a charismatic performer whose songwriting has undoubtedly soundtracked many a coming of age story within the Australian landscape and beyond” – Femmusic.com
“Lubitz’s style and panache is carried by the instrumentation which canters with a graceful bubble and pop” – Arun Kendall, Backseat Mafia
Indie icon Emily Lubitz returns with her retro-tinged folk with the second single lifted from her forthcoming debut solo EP ‘Begin Again’, out today. Another taste of Lubitz’ beautifully crafted storytelling written in the midst of the pandemic, the title track of the EP ‘Begin Again’ sees Lubitz drawing beauty from the mundane, by sifting colour through the collective dullness and setting the scene for what’s to come on the rest of Emily’s EP to be released on Friday 4 November, followed by an eight date tour.
As captivating as it is humanising, ‘Begin Again’ is a tale of the unexpected experience we all shared over the past two years, when the world was suddenly ground to a halt. “Everyone has to write at least one pandemic song. This is mine. Everything changed for a while and we had to look at ourselves differently. Our lives, our choices, the things we had done and the things we might never get to do. We had a chance to begin again. For me the pandemic was preceded by a hiatus I took to have my third child, so my entire career had to be rebuilt in many ways. Here I am, just one of the billions, beginning again” explains Lubitz.

Meandering through the material on ‘Begin Again’, Emily Lubitz’s soon-to-be-released EP, one is often surprised by commonplace images from domestic life that rear up out of the darkness, saturated by a strange poetic force. Emily’s collection of songs tell stories of the everyday uncanny and the gravitational pull of love on first single ‘Like I Do’, the strong imagery and sorrowful lyrics of ‘Foolish Kids’, and the trusting acceptance of the title track ‘Begin Again’. Whether dreaming of how Beyonce tours in ‘What She’s Got’ or ‘Sinking Ship’s’ description of the unveiled honesty in a long term relationship, Begin Again shows the heart wrenching and heartwarming experience of being human.
After more than a decade of touring with her critically acclaimed band Tinpan Orange, Emily Lubitz prowls the stage with creativity alongside her all-grrrl rhythm section. As a solo artist Emily has collaborated and appeared on some of the world’s biggest stages with the likes of Paul Kelly, Martha Wainwright, and Clare Bowditch just to name a few. The ‘Like I Do’ tour saw Lubitz joining musical forces with Freyja Hooper on drums and Winona Miller on bass for the national tour performing in artist’s bars, hometown shows, and supporting Australian greats Paul Kelly and Paul Grabowsky in Adelaide and Perth.
With that timeless, aching quality that only the great voices have, Lubitz is every singer’s favourite singer and has won the hearts of audiences around the world. Do not miss this charismatic performer this November and December with dates across Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland, including an appearance at Queenscliff Music Festival.

Begin Again Lyrics
I said I’d see you in November
I thought it was for sure
Now we’re watching on the TV
Thinking it can’t last that long
I never went by myself
I never took somebody else
All my plans are in the wind
All the things I’ve never done
By a nose that I have won
I guess I’ll try to begin again
I’ll try to begin
Some things keep on being normal
We’re still flying to the moon
But now we’re headed for the borders
It’s Christmas coming soon
I never went by myself
I never took somebody else
All my plans are paper thin
All the things I’ve never done
By a nose that I have won
I guess I’ll try to begin again
I’ll try to begin

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
