One year on from their debut release, today Erthlings celebrate with their new single ‘Returning’, taken off their debut EP, Indigo, both out today via Future Classic. Listen HERE.

Of the track Erthlings bass player Taylor Shutes says: “I started writing the initial melody for ‘Returning’ when I was 12 – it was stuck in my head and wouldn’t go away. We started playing it live and it always got a great reaction. Four years later it’s evolved to where it is now. We’re really excited about how it turned out and ready to share.”

Bridges’ and ‘Cuts & Bruises’ catapulted Issy, Jessame, Taylor and Lissa to widespread attention. The band garnered critical acclaim from the likes of The New York Times, Nylon Mag, Refinery29 and more, amassed a combined 7.5 million online streams and pinned syncs across Grey’s Anatomy (US), Animal Kingdom (US), Diary of an Uber Driver and more. Across radio, the tracks received rotation and airplay on triple j, FBi Radio, Beats 1 with Matt Wilkinson, Indie Show with Jack Saunders on Radio 1, BBC 6,Radio X, KCRW, and more, with ‘Bridges’ peaking at #8 on US College Radio Singles Chart sitting in the Top 10 for 5 weeks and ‘Cuts and Bruises’ peaking at #15. Since, the band have honed on their songwriting, strengthened further by their intimate bond now on display with Indigo.

Indigo is a swirling presentation of the Sydney four-piece’s ability to pivot from ethereal pop to alt-indie, with a nuanced ease and grace. Each track is built on a foundation of attitude, strength and empowerment and infused with the beyond-their-years maturity established on earlier releases. The subtle strums of ‘Returning’ open the EP, a poignant ballad on “drifting apart” too soon. Across the five songs, Erthlings delve into frustration, disappointment and failed relationships – universal themes perfected by the four young women together, as they have done since writing music from 12 years old.

2019 has shaped up to be a big year for the band, who joined Clairo, Amy Shark, Wafia and G Flip on nation-wide tours. Plus performances at Groovin The Moo, Splendour In The Grass, Shoreshocked Festival, Bigsound Festival and more. With the release of Indigo, Erthlings remain un-jaded.
