ESKIMO JOE CONTINUE 21ST ANNIVERSARY CAMPAIGN WITH REISSUE OF THEIR 2011 ALBUM GHOSTS OF THE PAST

AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER NOW

AVAILABLE DIGITALLY, SPECIAL EDITION CD AND LIMITED EDITION COLOURED VINYL

.

To celebrate 21 years since the formation of Eskimo Joe, the platinum-selling band from Western Australia are reissuing their back catalogue in special new formats.

Kicking off the reissue series in March was Eskimo Joe’s 2001 debut album Girl, with 2011’s Ghosts Of The Past the next album to be given the deluxe treatment. The album will be released on Friday May 18 and is available to pre-order now.

As well as being issued on limited edition light blue vinyl, the Ghosts Of The Past anniversary edition CD will feature the original album remastered and paired with eight additional songs.

Eskimo Joe frontman Kav Temperley recalls a number of Ghosts Of The Past’s songs evolved from a month of solo performances in his Fremantle hometown that were meant to be low-key.

“I booked myself a secret residency at a small local cafe and each week I would turn up with no songs, just a few drum machine loops and some piano riffs and I would see what would happen,” Kav says.

“Unfortunately, or fortunately, the word got out about what I was up to, and every week the crowd got bigger, and eventually the little X-Wray Cafe was jam-packed full of friends, family and Eskimo Joe fans. Every week the songs slowly evolved in front of a live audience and by the end of the month some of these songs were the seeds of When We Were Kids, Gave It All Away and Words Of Avoidance.”

Over the next 12 months, Eskimo Joe albums A Song Is A City (2004), Black Fingernails, Red Wine (2006) and Inshalla (2009) will also be reissued on coloured vinyl and as anniversary edition CD packages.

Eskimo Joe have accrued seven platinum and two gold album certifications over the course of their career, as well as four top five positions in the ARIA Album Chart. Both Black Fingernails, Red Wine and Inshalla hit number one on the ARIA Album Chart. Globally, the trio has sold in excess of 700,000 albums.

Eskimo Joe continue their run of collaborative performances with symphony orchestras across Australia this week, with two shows with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra at Hobart’s Federation Concert Hall. More information about the tour can be found via the band’s official website.
