From the Band Members

Kav Temperley

I remember thinking, way back in 1997, when we played the Grosvenor back room in Perth and sold 500 CDs of our first EP “Sweater” that we’d made it!! Then I remember driving along in my friends crappy Ford Laser (I didn’t have my license) and hearing Sweater on the radio, it really felt like we’d made it, that we were a REAL band!! Now, after 21 years, I still have that sense of wonderment every time we achieve things, play together and write new stories. I’m extremely grateful for the friendship that I’ve had with Stu and Joel over the years, and the amazing support of our community who’ve loved our music. This needs to be celebrated, Happy 21st Birthday Eskimo Joe

Stu MacLeod

21 years! It’s always a huge milestone in a person’s life. The origins of celebrating a person’s 21st birthday actually come from medieval knights. Provided they had passed their “Knight exams”, they were officially knighted when they turned 21. We will be incredibly proud to be knighted Sir Eskimo Joe come 2018. And what better way than to reimagine our songs under the utterly amazing guidance and tutelage of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, performing in the Perth Concert Hall. I cannot tell you how excited I am to be a part of this performance. It represents a really amazing point in our career, taking a look back at the last 21 years and selecting our favourite songs to perform in a totally unique setting, alongside some of the finest performers and musical minds in Australia. When I think back on the last 21 years, I see so many faces of the people working alongside us, but none more so than Kav and Joel. I can’t wait to be standing in front of the full WA Symphony Orchestra beside my musical brothers as we journey back through the last 21 years. It will be a concert with something for everyone and I truly hope you can all make it.”

Joel Quartermain

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 21 years since Kav, Stu and I first got together to make music. What started as scraping enough instruments together to jam tunes in share house lounge rooms led us to a lifetime’s worth of incredible experiences. From being able to write and record six albums, tour to all points of the globe and share stages with many of our heroes, our 21st anniversary seems like the perfect opportunity to look back and be grateful for the amazing ride that Eskimo Joe has taken my brothers in music and I on. Of course, celebrations are meant to be shared so what better way than to share a stage with 50 incredible musicians to reimagine our songs? Most importantly, we’re excited to share this with you, the people who’ve made any of this possible. A heartfelt thank you from us and we can’t wait to see you there!
