“elegant and bold” – Pop Justice, Song Of The Week
“Eves coming into her own; stronger in her sense of self, more sure of her mix of pop sensibilities and studio experimentation…” – Grazia
“Eves Karydas is back with her best track yet. “There For You” is an impassioned battle-cry in the form of a massive pop song” – The Line Of Best Fit
“A remarkable song writing maturity… Against the lush atmospherics, her breathy, impassioned voice challenges a lover (or possibly herself) to her the respect she’s obviously due” – Blackbook Magazine

Eves Karydas today announces she will be supporting Brisbane alt-pop stars Cub Sport, who are embarking on their biggest Australian tour to date, following on from their immensely successful 2017 that saw them release their brilliant second album, Bats. The tour kicks off in Perth on February 22 and heads across the country to Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney. See below for full tour dates.
These shows will be Karydas’s first live appearances in Australia since 2015, when she commanded adoring audiences across the country for her stellar Laneway Festival and Splendour In The Grass performances. Later that year, her debut run of headline shows sold out within 48 hours of going on sale and she garnered praise from fans and industry alike with the likes of The Sydney Morning Herald declaring of her Newtown Social Club set, “There were deep, glitchy garage beats and seductive grooves… clashing keys and kooky experiments peppered throughout others… the dramatic surges and big Florence and the Machine-esque choruses. She is unusual, compelling and definitely one to watch.”
The start or 2018 has seen Eves Karydas launch the next step of her career by releasing two bold and impassioned new singles, ‘There For You’ and ‘Further Than The Planes Fly’ and she is now poised to debut these songs live for the first time to audiences on home soil. She has also just been announced on the line up for The Great Escape (UK) in May, where she will join fellow Australian acts among the likes of Alex The Astronaut, Alexander Briggs, Hatchie, Olympia and Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever as well as a raft of rising global talent.

Featuring sly beats and a foggy bassline, her latest single ‘Further Than The Planes Fly’ sees Karydas push her vocals skyward, searching for breathy vocal hooks with which to express the heady playful romanticism of her lyrics. The track which premiered on triple j’s Good Nights’ and was added to the playlist, was produced by Karydas and Chris Zane (Passion Pit, Bat For Lashes), and co-written with Sam Dixon (Adele, Christina Aguilera, Sia), it’s another step into the realm of pure pop from the former Brisbane indie-act, and follows in the footsteps of her previous single ‘There For You.’ It stands as another indicator of her maturing songwriting skills, that have no doubt spawned from her courageous relocation to London in pursuit of the goal to grow and develop in the craft she loves and excels at.
Her time in London since 2015 has seen Karydas craft over 50 songs, the cream of which have been skimmed for her forthcoming debut album, which is to be scheduled for release later this year. The first taste ‘There For You’, displayed a sensuality and effervescent energy we hadn’t seen from her before, and this new direction quickly found a following, the song climbing over 1.2 million streams on Spotify in no time at all.
Eves Karydas’ initial project Eves the Behavior, described as ‘disillusioned pop’, documented a young woman finding her place in the world, who looked toward female heroines such as Joan of Arc and Joan Didion for influence and incentive. Now, from a new city, through new relationships, and with new, enlightening experiences to draw from, Eves Karydas uses her music to explore female strength, sexuality and empowerment via deep, melodic hooks and brilliant sonic atmosphere she hopes will help to challenge the pop sphere.
