Headline artists including Hermitude [DJ Set], The Presets, Peking Duk [DJ Set], Confidence Man, Illy, Ruel and Vera Blue will serve up the soundtrack to summer when they hit Brisbane for the epic Factory Summer Festival over three mammoth weeks this December.

The experiential arts and music event will transform the Brisbane Showgrounds into an extravagant outdoor live performance fairground from 11 to 31 December 2020.

One of the very few music festivals to play Queensland this year, Factory Summer Festival brings some of the country’s biggest acts to Brisbane in a COVID Safe celebration with four epic stages, nine themed bars, a massive silent disco, carnival rides, games arcade and more to be revealed.

With the health and safety of all attendees at the forefront of their planning, Festival organisers Bar Pop are implementing a number of additional safety measures and COVID Safe practices in line with government guidelines.

In addition to ensuring social distancing measures of 2 sqm per person, the event will also feature hand sanitisers and hand wash facilities, additional cleaning and sanitising of all areas and trained COVID-marshals to assist in ensuring COVID-safe practices are adhered to.

Outdoor dancing is back in Queensland with organisers creating COVID safe, controlled areas. Organisers will also implement contact tracing measures to ensure all attendees can be contacted following the event.

Reflecting on an extremely tough year for the arts and entertainment industry Event Co-Director Chris Bausor says opening an event of this size is paramount to the best Christmas present the industry could ask for.

“2020 has seen a huge number of events cancelled, postponed or on hold, so it feels incredible to bring a new arts and music festival to Brisbane.

“We are excited to play our part in reigniting the industry whilst providing a safe enjoyable experience for the people of Queensland.”

“It’s no secret 2020 has been an extremely difficult year for everybody in the live music and entertainment industry,” Mr Bausor said.

“Here in Australia, we’re incredibly privileged to have a strong variety of talented home-grown artists available to tour over summer 20/21, while our borders remain closed to international guests,” he continued. 

“Every artist on the Factor Summer Festival line-up is absolutely buzzing to get back on stage and perform to their fans.”

The opening night line-up on Friday 11 December will blow Brisbane away and set the tone for a wild summer of music, headlined by legendary electronic hip hop duo Hermitude [DJ Set] in a Brisbane exclusive show alongside in-demand international DJ Anna Lunoe.

The Presets will bring the Saturday night party vibes on Saturday 12 December.

A jaw-dropping triple-bill kicks off the second big weekend with Peking Duk [DJ Set], Confidence Man and Benson dropping beats on Friday 18 December.

What So Not and ShockOne keep the party pumping on Saturday 19 December with punters ending the weekend on a high on Sunday 20 December with a massive line-up featuring Vera Blue, Northeast Party House, GRAACE and Stace Cadet.

Hayden James and Illy will serve up the perfect antidote to Christmas overload with pre-Yuletide sets on Thursday 24 December.

Shake off the silly season with a monster Boxing Day line-up featuring rapper, musician and producer Example, Motez, Dirty South and Nina Las Vegas on Saturday 26 December.

It gets Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger on Sunday 27 December with Discovery Daft Punk spinning iconic Daft Punk anthems in a tribute to the trailblazing French electronic act.

Factory Summer Festival ends with a bang, kicking 2020 to the curb with a colossal New Year’s Eve event on Thursday 31 December where Factory Festival DJs welcome in 2021.

General admission tickets are released in stages and are being snapped up quickly with the 18+ event strictly capped to meet COVID Safe guidelines.

Factory Summer Festival’s Brisbane season marks an East Coast expansion for the iconic Perth-based event that has served up summer on the West Coast as the Ice Cream Factory Summer Festival for three huge years.

Factory Summer Festival is a COVID-19 Safe Event. Organisers are in regular communication with local and state authorities, will operate to an approved COVID-19 Safety Plans and will be compliant with the directions of Queensland Health.

Mr Bausor acknowledged the critical importance of ensuring the health and safety of all attendees and the broader public and said the event would only go ahead if there was complete confidence it was safe to proceed.

“We can assure you that we are committed to meeting the highest level of health and safety protocols for the duration of your festival experience, from arrival to departure,” he said.

If events cannot proceed on the original advertised date, they will be rescheduled. Full and immediate refunds are available for ticket holders unable to attend the alternative dates.
