Sydney based punk quartet FANGZ have just unveiled their neoteric clip for their latest single ‘I Don’t Like Me’ – shot and directed by Rhys Bennett (Polish Club, Bootleg Rascal, Totally Unicorn) at Good Loco, Marrickville NSW.
Leaning into the theme of the track, the accompanying visual sees the protagonist (played by guitarist Sam Sheumack) switch frenetically between himself and an inner demon, of which symbolises the hidden struggles of self-doubt and mental health issues.
Sheumack talks about the production process behind ‘I Don’t Like Me’:
“It was an incredibly enjoyable challenge to step out from behind the safety of my guitar to create two different personalities. Fortunately, my partner is an amazingly talented SFX makeup artist, which made the transition super easy.”

Since its release, the track has been strongly supported by the likes of Spotify and Apple Music, and radio stations Triple J, Triple J Unearthed, Triple M, 3RRR, SYN FM, 4ZZZ, Edge Radio, Radio Adelaide, The Faction, Radio One (NZ) and KICK FM (NZ). ‘I Don’t Like Me’ has also received praise from online tastemakers NME, Blunt Magazine, HEAVY Mag, The AU Review and Hysteria Magazine.
Although battling against an unforgiving global pandemic, FANGZ have maintained their resilience and continued on throughout 2021 with great strides. They sold out all shows on their ‘Self Medicate’ tour, making appearances across NSW, ACT, VIC and QLD. In the live arena, the band have also supported the likes of Comeback Kid (CAN), Cancer Bats (CAN), Gyroscope, Totally Unicorn and Bare Bones.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
