As the sun sets on a massively successful live set at Glastonbury and sold-out dates across the UK, Fanny Lumsden shares another snapshot of her fourth studio album HEY DAWN (Cooking Vinyl Australia), via the video for new single Ugly Flowers. It was directed by Fanny and Dan, filmed and edited by Dan Stanley Freeman featuring home videos and slides generously supplied by the Hardie/Lumsden family. WATCH HERE.
Fanny explains, “Ugly Flowers is a call to the stories we were told and those we told ourselves and how they change and warp over time. We were built on these memories, regardless of how unglamourous they seemed in the moment. You get to a point where you almost do anything just to drop back to those moments of the endless long days soaked in future and in freedom. Freedom to have a strong opinion about a flower based on its association with your at-the-time assumed boring, rural (dare I say actual small town) life. Then you get a little older and realise those are the very same ugly flowers that now when you smell, alongside wet hot cement in the summer, set you free. If just for a nostalgic moment. Families grow, change, people die, people are born, but the ugly flowers live on, thriving against a wall in the baking western NSW sun, passing down our secrets to the next generation.”
“In real time it is directly about my family and how as we get older our families or the families we build for ourselves are really all that matter.”

Lumsden has just played a triumphant UK debut with her band the Prawn Stars at Glastonbury Festival, headlined three shows in Ireland, and concluded with a full house at Green Note in Camden, London.
On playing Glastonbury’s Field of Avalon Stage, Lumsden said of the festival and performance: “I cannot believe that our first ever gig in the UK was to a full Avalon Stage at Glastonbury. The audience was so amazing and sang along and did all the designated dance moves and brought a lot of joy – it was an incredible experience. It was exciting to share our songs and stories all the way from Australia, with a beautiful audience!”
Returning to local shores, the release of Hey Dawn will be accompanied by a national tour from Fanny with The Prawn Stars, kicking off on July 28 in Bendigo and working along the East Coast. Today Fanny has revealed 4 new tour dates for Tasmania, running from September 14-17, in Lilydale, Gowrie Park, Queenstown and Franklin. All details are below and at www.fannylumsden.net.

AMNPLIFY – ML
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
