This year, independent broadcaster FBi Radio celebrate their 15th birthday with a festival, fundraiser and birthday bash all in one. Taking place on Saturday November 3 at Manning House, FBi Turns 15 will bring together a heavyweight all-Australian lineup of acts who have been part of the station’s history, and are setting the course for its future. Cloud Control, Tropical Fuck Storm, Sampa the Great, CC:DISCO!, JAALA and Miss Blanks head up the all-star celebrations across three big stages.

Since its first broadcast in 2003, FBi Radio has tirelessly championed Sydney music, arts and culture, delivering great radio on the daily to listeners across the city and beyond. In that 15 years, FBi Radio has become a cultural institution, amplifying Sydney’s thriving creative culture on-air, online and out in the community. Driven by teams of talented volunteers, FBi Radio has had a hand in launching the careers of countless Aussie acts, as well as training the next generation of young broadcasters and media professionals. With a reputation like this, FBi Turns 15 is guaranteed to be big.

Heading up the mammoth lineup are local legends, Australian Music Prize winners and ARIA Award nominees Cloud Control. Awarded Record of the Year at the 2017 FBi SMAC Awards for last year’s self-produced album, Zone and named FBi’s second most played artist in the same year, the Blue Mountains natives are a stand-out chapter in the station’s history & the perfect choice to spearhead the celebrations.

Joining them is Tropical Fuck Storm – a psychedelic punk-rock blitzkrieg led by Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin of The Drones. The supergroup, incorporating Lauren Hammel (High Tension) and Erica Dunn (Harmony, Palm Springs) has been a regular on FBi Radio playlists since their debut album A Laughing Death in Meatspace stormed into the collective cultural conscience earlier this year.

FBi Radio’s most played artist of 2017 and undeniable hip-hop powerhouse, Sampa the Great returns to Sydney for FBi Turns 15. Since being crowned as Next Big Thing at the 2015 FBi SMAC Awards, the Zambia-born artist’s star has steadily risen thanks to her incisive music, thought-provoking poetry and visually stunning live shows. Sampa The Great’s recent Birds and the BEE9 mixtape was named an FBi Radio Album of the Week last year, and she remains one of the station’s faves.

One of Australia’s finest disco queens CC:DISCO! will fire up the birthday dance floor with house-driven boogie and disco beats to die for. CC’s weekly show on Melbourne institution PBS FM has primed her to knock out guest spots on NTS and Red Light Radio, as well as a recent residency on Rinse FM. Alongside an impressive radio career, CC has performed at Strawberry Fields, on the Boiler Room stage for Sugar Mountain, graced the supernatural amphitheatre at Meredith Music Festival and further abroad.

Next up is FBi favourite JAALA, two-time recipient of FBi Radio Album of the Week for acclaimed records Hard Hold (2015) and Joonya Spirit (2018). Since being named Independent Artist of the Week, JAALA has evolved from rough-cut prog rock diamond to a cosmic prog rock explosion – unique and wonderful. And not to be missed.

With fierce vocals and an unapologetic stage presence, Miss Blanks will blow up FBi Turns 15. Having already made her mark on industry names like Acclaim, Complex, Billboard and Red Bull, Blanks’ ferocious music and irrepressible attitude have demolished festival stages across the country including BIGSOUND, Listen Out, Dark Mofo and Laneway, and now she’s taking aim at Manning in November.

Sydney femme-powered quartet Body Type are one of FBi Radio’s 2017 Most Played Artists, and will bring the apocalyptic noise with their raw, direct performance at FBi Turns 15. Western Sydney’s Kwame will thrill with his authentic, electric energy, deploying undeniable hip-hop hits like summer anthemWOW”. FBi’s very own Andy Garvey will take to the decks, celebrating her stomping ground with a flex of electronic and deep beats.

The party doesn’t stop there. Juicing up this already-staggering lineup will be a diverse crop of artists, including Melbourne two-piece and hellbent change-makers Divide & Dissolve, powerful techno magician Jensen Interceptor, FBi Radio host and dance blend connoisseur Adi Toohey, and rage-powered four-piece DISPOSSESSED. All of this will be topped off by sets from DEN, Party Dozen, Stereogamous, Slim Set, DJ Plead, Freda & Jackson, Spike Fuck, CLYPSO, Board Shorts, E4444E, Maia Bilyk, Heaps Gay DJ’s and Sidehustle making for a truly unforgettable birthday celebration.

FBi Turns 15 will bring the community together in celebration of world-class talent emerging every day from every corner of the country, and of the station that is devoted, heart and soul, to championing it. Don’t miss your chance to celebrate with them and this huge line-up on November 3 at Manning House.
