Hello performers and guests, roll on up as Ring Leader and FOTSUN Founder Simon Luke has some exciting news happening at the big top in Port Macquarie on December 13 -15!
Cirque de FOTSUN would like to welcome local band Nana Klumpp to the bill! These four dudes from the mid north coast love to play indie, surf rock music and are going to breath fire into the lineup this year!
“I always enjoy hosting an open call out for a local act to join the bill. It’s awesome to see young, new bands who are discovering their sound on the stage- we see this as a great opportunity to highlight just how amazing our youth bands are in this region”, Festival Director, Simon Luke.

FOTSUN Festival Director Simon Luke has also organised some backflipping initiatives for punters this year.
To kick things off, FOTSUN will be going Plastic FREE, with the goal to remove single plastic use at the festival. Sustainability and wastage can easily be minimised at FOTSUN and the Port Macquarie based boutique festival is calling on all punters to assist with this initiative.
To help in making this sustainable goal a reality, all food trucks will be selling cans only and all food will be served on recyclable materials! That’s right, no plastic water bottles, cutlery or plates. FOTSUN is also placing cold water stations around the festival and encouraging all punters to reuse bottles or bring a water bottle and fill up. To help with the clean up efforts, FOTSUN will also be using biodegradable garbage bags to collect waste. Adding a cherry on top of the big top, punters campsites will be checked on the final day and clean sites will receive prizes and priority camping spot choice at next year’s FOTSUN.
Keeping to the sustainable theme for 2018, FOTSUN is super stoked to launch the first ECanOmy. What on earth is ECanOmy?! Well ECanOmy is simply the trade off of cans for vouchers. As some may know FOTSUN is one of the longest standing BYO festivals, SO FOTSUN will be setting up multiple can collection points throughout the festival. Punters can drop off their used cans and receive vouchers which can be exchanged for food, merch, games and some other cheeky perks that will be announced soon. At drop off and collection points, punters will be educated and encouraged to take leftover cans home to trade in at their local depots. Festival of the Sun last year collected over 5,000 cans to recycle and 4000L of cardboard, this year FOTSUN wants to set a goal of 10,000 cans and 6000L of cardboard.
Also at FOTSUN, is the first ‘Kartent Village’ where there will be unique sustainable heavy duty weather resistant cardboard tents onsite. For those who prefer the campervan life, FOTSUN has another festival first partnering with Camplify vans. The team will be setting up epic onsite vans for punters to rent out over the weekend.
FOTSUN was one of the first festivals to run the DOWN TO TEST initiative and after much success last year having 580 punters tested for STIs (11% of the crowd) FOTSUN is bringing it back for another round.

Festival goers simply need to pee into a cup to receive entry into this exclusive area. This interesting entry fee may raise some eyebrows, however it’s all in aid of keeping festival goers sexually safe by testing for STIs, a major issue for young people in NSW. Inside the area, punters will find the ultimate chill out zone complete with biodegradable glitter bar, phone charging stations and the ring leader’s favourite, clean toilets! My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
