Brian Fennell A.K.A. SYML demonstrates his keen grasp on textural and emotive songwriting, combining bare piano, minimalist synths, soundscapes, and ethereal vocals, all created in his basement studio in the small town of Issaquah, just outside Seattle. His experience of being adopted and not fully knowing his history or connection to his Welsh roots has influenced his songwriting; particularly the complex feelings that are born from his unknown lineage. Fennell writes and records songs under the name SYML because it means simple in Welsh.
