Australia’s favourite high altitude pairing Flight Facilities, are back with a brand new single “Better Than Ever” featuring Aloe Blacc, out today via Future Classic.
Aloe Blacc’s soul lifting vocal opens the three-minute track, as hand-claps and a fuzzy bassline ground contagious gospel harmonies. An organic drum beat propels you to your feet for the chorus, marking uncharted Flight Facilities territory. “Better Than Ever” is the first taste of new music from the duo since their 2018 release, “All Your Love” and is set to be one of summer’s biggest mood boosting anthems.

The video, directed by award-winning filmmaker Tom Noakes follows a lead protagonist with an itch, as he seeks to satisfy the scratch on a bus ride with a surprise cast of friends. Noakes previously directed the critically acclaimed video for Flight Facilities’ epic six-minute release, “Stranded”.
Flight Facilities say of the track, “We try to explore all genres with our music, and ‘Better Than Ever’ may be as close to pop as we’ve ever been.”
As ARIA-award winning producers and world-class collaborators, Gruzman and Lyell will tour their timeless Flight Facilities repertoire on this year’s festival circuit, including Grapevine Gathering in Victoria Valley on Saturday 23 November; Roche Estate, Hunter Valley on Saturday 30 November; and Sandalford Wines in Caversham, WA on Sunday 1 December.

Since emerging with the celebrated global anthem “Crave You” in 2010, Flight Facilities have consistently defied sonic trends, staying true to crafting feel-good soundtracks that make people want to dance irrespective of genre. The pair have risen to international fame with cult hits sporting multi-million online streams such as “Clair de Lune”, “Down To Earth” and “Sunshine”, and have worked alongside Kylie Minogue, Emma Louise, Reggie Watts, Owl Eyes and more on their Gold certified, twice ARIA-nominated 2014 debut LP Down To Earth, and subsequent ARIA-awarded 2015 album Live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
The duo last unleashed a stream of tightly-curated singles that fans were quick to embrace. The first being “Arty Boy”, a 2017 collaboration with Brisbane’s Emma Louise that sported an iconic, nostalgic nature of yesteryear pop. Next was “Stranded”, an expansive arrangement boasting an international dream team consisting of Broods, Reggie Watts, Saro and instrumentation by Davide Rossi, Touch Sensitive and Stella Mozgawa of Warpaint. The perfectly balanced fragile melancholy and electro pop of “Need You” followed, as did the glacially building brilliance of celestial single, “All Your Love”.

Ever impossible to pigeonhole in the studio and on stage, Flight Facilities are equally at home in a DJ booth, as they are performing to thousands with some of the world’s best orchestras in their soaring live show. Alongside attracting their own headline crowds, the pair are global festival favourites often slotted at prestigious festivals like Coachella in LA, Fuji Rock in Japan and Bestival in the UK.
As summer looms down under, there’s never been a better time to enjoy the return of classically cool but always fun pop, only Flight Facilities know how to master. Soak up “Better Than Ever” today, and watch this space for more new music on the horizon.
