FOLK ALLIANCE CONFERENCE

.

Folk Alliance Australia is proud to be teaming up with Australian Music Week to hold our 2017 Folk Alliance Conference as part of this important Australian Music Industry event in Cronulla, Sydney, NSW.

Folk music has had an influential role in the development of Australian music with such acts as Redgum, Slim Dusty and Angus & Julia Stone and many others. The partnership between FAA and AMW gives FAA the opportunity to profile the Australian folk genre to the broader music industry network and in doing so ensure that Australian folk music finds its place in a range of national and international market places and is valued in the big picture within the music industry.

As part of Australian Music WeekFolk Alliance Australia will showcase fifteen of Australian folks best talent. Taking part in the FAA and broader AMW gathering will provide the opportunity to participate in a dynamic event and to network with fellow members and supporters of the Australian folk industry, nationally and internationally.

Register for the conference and attend FAA panels, Q&A sessions and workshops. The FAA Conference Program will cover a range of topics relating to festivals, venues and events, building your business as an artist, the state of Folk as well as provide networking with national and international delegates. Your FAA registration also gives you access to the range of activities on offer at Australian Music Week. You can book your Folk Alliance Australia delegate ticket HERE.

Brought to the fore just months ago as the FAA Young Artist of the Year, rising Australian folk cellist and songwriter Monique Clare is set to tour her debut solo release down the east coast of Australia as well as play the November FAA Conference.

Fully funded by a Pledgemusic campaign that smashed its goal and was supported by music lovers all around the world, By The Stars is a first taste of what the genre-hopping, singing cellist has to offer. The songs on the five track EP are written in a distinctively modern style, but with flavour stirred in from the traditional Scandinavian, American and Scottish folk music that influences her playing.

With a reputation for bringing her listeners to tears, her live shows also weave in the genres and folk tunes that influence her original songs, with anything from Swedish polskas to solo Bach. A string of festivals will take her through to 2018, including Dorrigo Folk Festival, Australian Music Week, Cygnet Folk Festival and other major folk festivals yet to be announced. For more information head to https://moniqueclare.com
