There is no other rapper, singer or writer who simultaneously moves the streets and the Billboard charts with an influence that resonates with stars like Drake, Rihanna and everyone else in between. With 13 gold and platinum singles and top selling albums like ‘DS2’, ‘EVOL’ and ‘What a Time To Be Alive’ to his name, FUTURE’s rank in the game is unmatched.

Coming up under the Dungeon Family, his producer cousin Rico Wade, Goodie Mob and OutKast, Future had the best teachers any aspiring hip-hop artist could ask for. But it didn’t take long for the student to become a master. With a style that mixes rapping with melodic chants and psychedelic street harmonies, Future has become one of music’s most sought after features, collaborating on tracks with Lil Wayne (“Love Me”), Ariana Grande (“Everyday”), DJ Khaled (“I Got The Keys”), Justin Bieber (“What’s Hatnin”) and Usher (“Rivals”).

Dubbed ‘the most exciting new voice in hip hop’ by Rolling Stone, YOUNG THUG exploded out of the Atlanta rap scene, making his mark in 2011 with mixtape ‘I Came From Nothing’. Gaining a reputation for his unique delivery style, the avant-garde rhymer was picked up by Gucci Mane’s label and singles ‘Danny Glover’ and ‘Stoner’ landed him in the limelight.

In between prolifically releasing his own records and mixtapes (including 2016’s Jeffery, a dynamic swag of trap songs laced perfectly with pop), he’s collaborated with Kanye West, been remixed by Nicki Minaj and lent his vocals to tracks with Drake, Diplo and Calvin Harris.

Hotwiring sweet summer vibes with striking trap, L D R U’s self-described ‘trapical’ sounds has cast a spell on fans here and overseas. He’s struck gold with songs like ‘Keeping Score’ (the highest selling Aussie single of 2016), ‘Next To You’ and his latest slice ‘Me’ (featuring BOI) and worked his Midas touch on remixes of Flume, Lorde, Pnau and Jack Ü (amongst many others). With best buddy Yahtzel, he’s also one half of dynamic duo Carmada, who topped the iTunes charts with their debut EP ‘Realise’ featuring their omnipresent hit ‘Maybe’. Armed with his fresh debut album ‘Sizzlar’, get ready for this hometown hero to drop the perfect set for a Sydney summer.

She may have just graduated from Year 12 but rising star MALLRAT is the one schooling the rest of us when it comes to lo-fi pop hip hop. With lyrics that defy her 17 years, Mallrat’s authentic and observational tunes have clocked up more than 16 million streams in the two short years she’s been making music. She’s already supported the likes of Allday, Peking Duk and Maggie Rogers, along with selling out her own headline shows to celebrate latest single ‘Better’. Self-described as the “Hannah Montana of the rap game”, and already endorsed by Rolling Stone and NME, Mallrat is poised to be the next big thing.

It’s been an exceptional year for Perth singer-songwriter, STELLA DONNELLY. Her cheekily-titled debut EP Thrush Metal was welcomed with open arms by critics, earning praise for both its charming lo-fi pop and refreshingly frank lyrics. Songs like ‘Mechanical Bull’ and ‘Boys Will Be Boys’ saw her hit high rotation on Triple J and dominate the West Australian Music Awards (she won five WAM Awards). Catch her set at Sydney City Limits before she jumps a plane overseas to wow crowds at SXSW and the Great Escape festival in the UK.
