G ELENIL
shares intense fever dream visuals for
‘Cool It’
.
.
“…there’s only one way [G Elenil’s] headed these days – and it’s straight to the top!”
– Purple Sneakers“Owning her sexuality, attitude and defiantly sending out to the world, Kin defines why G Elenil is one best coming out of Brisbane. ‘Cool It’ [leaves] listeners profoundly affected by her honest approach to sex and love, a perfect closer on an exceptional release.”
– Casual Band Blogger
“stunning..sure to put her on the map…Kin shows many sides of an exceptionally diverse artist.”
– Speaker TV
“When G hits on sultry freestyles Jhene Aiko comes to mind; the rawness of minimal vocals against Future sounds, moving fluidly from one track to the next. Bubbly electronic production, distinct to her vision (fleshed out with collaborator tomtom), is signature, as strict hip-hop rules are disregarded.”

Named an Artist to Watch this year by Purple Sneakers, Brisbane-based musician, producer and streetwear label owner/designer G Elenil’s debut EP ‘Kin’, a kaleidoscopic meeting of influences including bubbly trap, steamy alt-RnB and beyond found fans at triple j, triple j Unearthed, FBi Radio, 4ZZZ and beyond, with G making appearances at events like Listen Out (BNE), Laneway (BNE) and Girls To The Front II over the past twelve months.
Not content to let 2018 escape her manicured grasp without making one more show-stopping statement, G completes the visual narrative woven through videos for previous singles ‘Something‘ (G’s effervescent introduction), ‘Good Time‘ (a devastating post-apocalyptic romance) and ‘Long Drive‘ (the lonely & mysterious death of G’s character) with her wildest offering yet.
.
.
Depicting a fever trip within the mind of a dying G Elenil, ‘Cool It’s visuals showcases countless new sides of the always-surprising artist. Drawing inspiration from some of the most twisted, innovative visual cues used in Twin Peaks and by artists like Grace Jones, Die Antwoord and Beyonce, in ‘Cool It’ we see G dancing with her crew, presented as a tainted product, and surrounded by peers and kaleidoscopic visual effects. The closing track on her “unbound diary” of a debut EP, G’s agile lyricism makes it clear that this is a release built on authenticity in spite of its flashy visuals.
.
“[Cool It is] about wanting something and being on the limit of your abilities. The sort of people that find themselves there are my favourite people. I want them to feel this track like that.”
– G Elenil
.
Though not strictly a hip-hop artist in the truest sense, G Elenil’s roots are planted firmly in the genre. Her work prioritises self empowerment made possible through naming raw, specific realities. Honest and dynamic, her verses are powerful tools of elevation whether she’s asserting her sexual independence or celebrating her community.
Making her official debut in 2017, G Elenil previously independently released four singles [(Where) My Money, God Enough, Gold, Cut That Boi Off] to airplay on triple j, 4ZZZ and FBi Radio and praise from Purple Sneakers, Pilerats and Off the Clef. Her provocative live presence, equal measures playful & aggressive, has seen her share stages with the likes of Little Simz (UK), Futuristic (USA), M idas.Gold, Carmouflage Rose, Nico Ghost, Swilo, Miss Blanks, Jesswar and make guest appearances at Listen Out & BIGSOUND, as well as playing additional headline shows & local events.
A serial collaborator, G works frequently with producer tomtom and has done her fair share of features – most notably on the wildly popular bass-thumping Fempre$$ Cypher with Miss Blanks, Aywin, Kaylah Truth and more. Her unique signature flow has earned her praise from local legends like Travy P & I AM D.
Reflective and effortlessly diverse, G’s debut EP ‘Kin’ is a diary; winding through the light and dark of a complicated family holding together through struggles with financial stress, neglect, and addiction. Her infectious introductory single ‘Something’ won hearts with its charming cultural references and celebration of identity, while sweeping anthemic moment ‘GoodTime’ premiered on triple j’s Home & Hosed.
Even outside of music, G’s unbridled ambition has always sown positivity: she’s an active volunteer, knowing the unspeakable value in a social program that centres strength, health and community. Her ambitious spirit is inherited – her mother, a former designer, taught her the ropes so that G could found Plane Street, her own streetwear brand. Characterised by playful details embroidered by G herself, the label is a fresh take on merch that she plans to expand far beyond her own range. Her ultimate goal is, again, community-minded and zealous; G plans to change the game in more ways than one.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
