Ushering in their next era, acclaimed singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist G Flip has returned with their anxiously awaited new single ‘Disco Cowgirl’. After premiering on triple j, the track is out now via AWAL Recordings. Listen HERE.
Propelled by slick, ’80s inspired production, ‘Disco Cowgirl’ marks a sharp left turn into a new sound. Think reverb-drenched drums and shimmering synthesisers, building to an anthemic chorus as G reflects on the intensity of a connection that burned bright and faded fast. The song captures the ache of fleeting love and its emotional aftermath, wrapped in the warm glow of retro-pop nostalgia. To celebrate the release, fans can now pre-order a limited edition 7″ vinyl of ‘Disco Cowgirl’ – available HERE.
Co-written and co-produced by G Flip and longtime collaborator Aidan Hogg, ‘Disco Cowgirl’ was brought to life in G’s Los Angeles studio. G played the majority of the instruments on the track – affirming their reputation as a hands-on, multi-talented force in pop music.
“‘Disco Cowgirl’ is the first taste of a new era,” shares G Flip. “It’s the first stop on a larger ride that I can’t wait to share with the world.”
‘Disco Cowgirl’ follows G Flip’s celebrated sophomore album DRUMMER, released in 2023 to widespread praise, earning them 6 ARIA nominations. Highlighted by singles including ‘Be Your Man,’ ‘The Worst Person Alive,’ and ‘Good Enough,’ the album cemented their status as a truly singular voice in modern music. The album shot to #1 on the ARIA charts, was named triple j’s Album Of The Year, and propelled G to their largest Australian tour to date. The massive DRUMMER Tour sold over 65,000 tickets across the world, including sold out runs in Australia, the US and UK, international festival performances, a surprise guest appearance from Mike Shinoda, and an ARIA award for Best Live Act.
