Gabrielle Aplin’s new album ‘Phosphorescent’ (Never Fade Records) is here, and the build-up has seen the singer-songwriter again earn the attention that her revitalised, life-affirming new songs deserve. Recent tracks including ‘Skylight’, ‘Call Me’ and ‘Never Been The Same’ have seen Gabrielle playlisted at Radio 2 as well as grace the covers of House of Solo and HATC. In tandem, playlist support across all key platforms has continued to push her career streams to date beyond a billion. These have included Fresh & Chill and The Pop List at Spotify, New In Pop and Today’s Pop at Apple, and a YouTube RELEASED package, including a digital billboard display at Holland Park, London.
‘Phosphorescent’ is the strongest representation yet of who Gabrielle Aplin really is – as well as the artist that she is going to be in the years to come. While it’s not a lockdown album, it is the product of the solitude and strangeness that Gabrielle, like so many of us, experienced throughout that time. After moving to Somerset with her partner, the two touring musicians were anchored in a conventional schedule for the first time in forever, while the animals and wildlife that surrounded her new home reinvigorated her mojo. The songs emerged with new-found liberation. There were no external influences from the industry, and she made no firm plans as to what topics she would write about. She had a blank slate.
As lockdown dragged on, Gabrielle started to think of all the things she’d missed out on, from big adventures such as realising she’d never been raving in Ibiza, to day-to-day moments such as deciding to stay in rather than going for a drink with a friend. Writing with a back-to-basics approach, Gabrielle soon discovered that an urge for reconnection became a recurring motif.
Primarily recorded at the escapist, countryside retreat with key contributors including Mike Spencer (producer of her Gold-certified #2 debut album ‘English Rain’) and her regular co-writer Liz Horsman, the result is an album in which Gabrielle has blossomed by rediscovering her inner songwriter and embracing the inspiration that she found simply by spending time with nature. That spirit shines in the album’s recently unveiled tracks as well as songs that are waiting to be discovered such as the luminous, piano-based pop-soul of ‘Anyway’ and the instantly relatable ‘I Wish I Didn’t Press Send’)
Gabrielle shares a pure-hearted celebration of the best of human spirit on the folky alt-pop of the new song ‘Good Enough’. She describes the song as being about “wanting to be as good for all the people in your life as they are to you. And appreciating friendship and the small things.”

Gabrielle recently released ‘Side By Side’, an instantly addictive and uplifting song which keeps the energy at fever pitch in the new Sky Original film ‘The Amazing Maurice’, and features another of her new songs, ‘Be Yourself’. ‘The Amazing Maurice’ is the first animated feature film to be based on a Terry Pratchett novel (‘The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents’) and tells the story of Maurice, a large talking cat, who travels from town to town offering to solve their sudden rat problem. But after marching the rats out of town to the relief of the locals, there’s an unexpected twist in the tale… The film stars Hugh Laurie, Emilia Clarke, David Thewlis , Himesh Patel, Gemma Arterton, Hugh Bonneville, David Tennant, Ariyon Bakare, Rob Brydon, Julie Atherton, Joe Sugg, and Peter Serafinowicz.
Gabrielle says, “It’s always been a dream to write music for a film and I was buzzing when asked to write and sing for The Amazing Maurice soundtrack! I love how music and film can work together and really enjoyed the whole process of writing a song for a story that is purely about being who you truly are.
It was great to work with my longtime collaborator Liz Horsman and also a huge privilege to work with Tom Howe. I love strings! I love his work on ‘Side By Side’ and ‘Be Yourself’ but also across the whole soundtrack and I’m super excited to be working on the other side releasing all the songs on Never Fade.”
‘Phosphorescent’ is available HERE, with all records created using environmentally friendly eco-mix vinyl production, which uses leftover wax to create randomly coloured discs – making each copy unique.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
