Today, Gomeroi rapper Kobie Dee, proudly based in South Sydney’s Maroubra Bidjigal Land, announces his forthcoming EP, Chapter 26 available on July 26 via Bad Apples Music.

Across eight tracks, the EP captures the contrasting realities of Kobie’s current life stage through a stream of stories that are all at once vulnerable and visceral. From young man to fatherhood, rapper to artist and role model to leader, Kobie navigates vulnerability and strength, to beat self-doubt and find confidence – each day building a strong vision and legacy. First and foremost values-based, Chapter 26 invites fans to sit alongside Kobie as he reflects and raps through the growth, the pain points and success at this moment in his life. Executive producer, Jayteehazard lays down organic and 90s-ready beats across hooks from various special guests including Oddisee, Stan Walker, Miss Kaninna and Zia Jade for Kobie to tell his story, hoping to leave lessons and clues for the next Blak generation to one day stand tall in their own shoes.

Kobie says on his forthcoming EP: “Chapter 26 is a journey through my life, from being a young Blak man in Australia, to becoming a father and navigating fatherhood from a place of having an absent father myself. To then meeting my fiance and having my second child, starting to grow my family, then navigating my way through my career at this point in time and being conscious of the time that I have right now and how I’m going to use it.

All of the stories I share can be traced right back to my area [Bidjigal Land in South East Sydney], a place that holds some of my biggest lessons and some of my best memories. I want listeners to be educated on the subjects I’m talking about and to start discussions. I want people to feel inspired and motivated to overcome any situation they face in life at whatever chapter they’re in.”

The EP arrives off-the-back-of Kobie’s most recent single “Warriors & Storytellers”, a celebratory nod of recognition to both personal and professional achievements in his life. On release, the track was awarded rage’s Feature Video, followed by a powerful sync for AFL and NRL’s Indigenous Round that generated so much buzz the track reached #30 on the Shazam Charts, alongside a triple j addition that has seen “Warriors & Storytellers” achieve #22 Most Played on the station.

Last month, Kobie performed live from the UK’s Great Escape Festival, while completing a fit out for his new recording studio in Lexington Place that will be officially launched in the coming months. Earlier in the year, he appeared at his fourth self-curated festival, South East Block Party 2024 at Maroubra’s Coral Sea Park. The day of free live music, food and community activities, was enjoyed with the help of Weave Youth & Community Services and Randwick Council.

Previously, Kobie released another Chapter 26 EP single in “Statistic” to speak on observations in his life that contribute to the devastating statistics that impact Aboriginal people and communities every day. He was also a podcast guest on hip-hop series Take Flight, delivering powerful bars in his Sky Session. These moments coincided with Kobie’s discography reaching 80M+ global streams, and as he was awarded his first Gold certification for his 2019 single “Jody” which first debuted for triple j’s Bars Of Steel. This was preceded by critical rapture for the release of his single “Father’s Eyes” featuring Stan Walker, a nomination for NIMA’s Artist of the Year Award, and an invitation to perform live on stage at the NIMA Awards ceremony. Kobie appeared as GQ Magazine’s newest star and trailblazer within the September/October issue in 2023, and made waves on stages at the inaugural SXSW Sydney, Vivid Sydney, Brunswick Music Festival and the Powerhouse Museum’s Powerhouse Late x Re-Rightinitiative.

Kobie Dee shared his debut EP Gratitude Over Pity in 2021 to high acclaim from triple j, Pedestrian.TV, NME, GQ and more. That same year, Kobie launched his five-part podcast series, Know Role Models, featuring an inaugural episode with Australian of the Year and legendary sportsman, Adam Goodes. Since the release of “Jody”, Kobie Dee has continued to find connection with his peers and audiences across Australia via effortless flows, laser-sharp execution and visceral storytelling that connects deeply with all who listen. On stage, Kobie has performed at Yabun Festival, Yo MTV Raps, Oxford Arts Factory, Better Daze, Sydney Festival, This That Festival, Sydney Opera House as part of Briggs’ Bad Apples House Party for Vivid LIVE 2019 and more. In 2022, Kobie Dee completed his highly successful Gomeroi Nation tour. In partnership with Jackson Street and Create NSW, the tour made stops in Tamworth, Narrabri, Walgett and Boggabilla throughout March, before ending with a one-off Moree Block Party starring special guests Nooky, Triple One and Nter.
