Toronto native Colombian Canadian singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez has been ceaselessly creating a gripping and passionate body of work since the 2016 release of her RIAA platinum certified hit single, “Figures”. Launching with her debut Kiddo EP that propelled Reyez to early critical fanfare, she tirelessly hit the pavement landing all the way at a Grammy-nomination for her second EP, Being Human in Public. Reyez has graced the cover of magazines and been featured in Rolling Stone, Billboard, Vogue, Elle, LADYGUNN, CLASH, Galore, ILY MAGAZINE, etc., and appeared on multiple late-night TV and award shows, including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Late Night with Seth Meyers, the BET Awards, MTV VMA’s and The Daily Show, garnering over one-billion streams worldwide, touring around the world and performing at widely-renowned festivals such as Lollapalooza, AFROPUNK, Governors Ball, and more, amassing a massive and devout fanbase. Earlier this month, Jessie hit the road with global superstar Billie Eilish on her U.S. tour before the tour along with most of the music industry was abruptly halted due to the Covid-19 global pandemic
Releasing the album during this time left Jessie conflicted. Speaking to The New York Times on her decision to keep the album date Jessie states,” It messed me up because I was like ‘I don’t want to seem insensitive.’ I’ve grown up thinking about death as something that could easily happen tomorrow. But I know that for everybody else, there’s a lot of fear right now. I’m conflicted. But I’ve decided I’m putting out because indecision never did anything for nobody.”

With the release of her highly anticipated debut album, Before Love Came to Kill Us, out today via FMLY/ ISLAND, the 14-track studio album finds Reyez flying solo and hitting her stride, with only two additional artist features including “Coffin” featuring Eminem and “ Imported” featuring 6lack. The body of work reflects through intimately raw lyricism and gut-punching storytelling, delivering an inside look at the emotional experiences brought on by love, loss, identity, religion and politics.
Continuing in the same vein and coinciding with today’s release is the somber video for “I Do”. The visual, directed by Ross Lai, looks back through some of the experiences in Reyez’s past video storyline, depicting the loss of a partner while conveying hope for reunion in the afterlife. The imagery brings to life the vulnerability and rawness showcased throughout the project , which also features previously released singles including the GOLD-CERTIFIED track “Imported” featuring 6lack, and the empowering anthem “Ankles” and current single “Love in the Dark”, which has amassed over 15M streams worldwide,. Reyez brings her life experience into her music and reaffirms her narrative of authenticity, empowerment and conscientiousness.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
