Praise for GROOVY DAUGHTER
“Nicole lets the soul in her voice take you under” – Dave Ruby Howe, Director of triple j Unearthed
“A voice that grabs you by the collar and a groove that does it justice.” – Tommy Faith, Executive Producer of triple j Unearthed
“Prepare to be reeled in by the warm, lazy bassline before Groovy Daughter’s soulful vocals croon deeply personal (and relatable) lyrics. The combo makes for an infectious, must-hit-replay-right-this- very-second sort of song.” – triple j
“You get the vibe that she’s converted her most intimate diary entries into cleverly composed pieces of neo-soul.” – triple j
“[Groovy Daughter’s] contained yet simmering-with-tension vocal performance is one part Amy Shark, one part Beth Gibbons, but more persuasively operating in her own corner” – BMA Magazine
“Every word, every syllable, carries a deep emotional weight which can be sometimes unusual for this genre.” – American Pancake

On September 30th, Groovy Daughter released her much anticipated follow up single, “I DON’T CARE” – a hypnotic and unapologetic anthem for the emotionally abandoned.
Fronted by Canberra turned Adelaide art-pop icon Nicole Carr, Groovy Daughter has built an unparalleled reputation for immersive soundscapes, bracing vulnerability, and a cool trip-hop inspired swagger.
September 30th marks the release of Groovy Daughter’s latest single “I DON’T CARE”. Inspired by current contemporaries Biig Piig, Hiatus Kaiyote and Kaiit, “I DON’T CARE” builds on the coarse and confessional sonic palate of her previous single, “HARSH”. With lyrics that tackle the emotional sting of relationships turned bad, and the defiant freedom that accompanies self-acceptance, “I DON’T CARE” strikes the perfect balance of empathy and empowerment.
“Unlike most of my other songs, “I DON’T CARE” was completely unplanned and unhinged. I walked into the studio with one song and after about 5 hrs of us not really getting there I thought I’d pull out this demo and it just happened. All the stars were aligned for this one. I think “HARSH” unlocked a new confidence for me and I felt safe just rolling with whatever the session was gonna throw at me. I’ve become addicted to the process that open minded creating like that has given me. “I DON’T CARE” really embodies the process of just enjoying creating music and not having any expectations” – Groovy Daughter

Since her recent break-away single “HARSH” landed her triple j Unearthed Feature Artist in January, Groovy Daughter has spent Australia’s numerous lockdowns refining and evolving her new sonic identity.
“I was listening to a lot of ‘Biig Piig’ at the time, in particular her song ‘Oh no’. I was obsessed with the qualities and tones she created in it. I wanted to embody the emotion that I felt when listening to that song, and I wanted to create a song that I could also listen to over and over again. So I sat in my bedroom and just tried to channel that feeling. Even though at that time, the lyrics weren’t about anything that was happening to me, they just felt right for the feelings I was getting from the music.” – Groovy Daughter
2019 saw a Groovy Daughter make a searingly hot artistic debut, landing a series of high-profile shows with Slum Sociable, Thandi Phoenix, and Groovin the Moo. In the wake of the 2020 pandemic, Groovy Daughter doubled-down on her emotionally captivating live performances with a series of online shows, culminating in a performance on the Isol-Aid line up alongside Camp Cope, Alex the Astronaut, and Courtney Barnett. Hot off the heels of these successes, Groovy Daughter teamed up with fellow Canberra icon Citizen Kay to write and produce “HARSH”, the first step in the artistic rebirth that led to “I DON’T CARE”.
“I’m excited for people to hear this track, I feel so happy with the direction my music is going in, especially after the feedback I got from “HARSH”. After this release I hope that my band and I will get the opportunity to play some live shows and share more of my new sound with people. Onwards and upwards!” – Groovy Daughter

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
