The National Community Program is here!

Despite ongoing debates about whether it was the chicken or the egg that came first, there’s nothing but community spirit within the Groovin the Moo (GTM) coop. It’s a coop that is filled to the brim with love for our six regions, celebrating all the creative colour they have to offer.

We’re pleased to showcase these offerings through the return of our National Community Program, with shedloads of initiatives to get involved with. These range from programs for youth, to work experience for budding festival lovers, from opportunities for local artists, to inclusive and fabulous pop-up parties.

Here’s an A-Z overview of the National Community Program for 2020;

ARTY STUFF
Each GTM will showcase the talent on offer from the local art community, providing something for everyone – from an immersive psychedelic den in Wayville, to gigantic macrame masterpieces in Townsville, to dehydrated rescued fruit installations in Canberra! There will be a plethora of visual delights throughout every festival site, from the front gate entry to the small nooks and crannies. There’s a huge range of local legends who will lend a hand to literally make our festival sites a work of art!

CLASS OF 2020 – WORK EXPERIENCE
From humble beginnings at our first GTM (Gloucester, NSW in 2005), where students from the local TAFE campuses were invited to gain insight and lend a hand with all things Moo, we now involve stacks of educational facilities around the country. These include high schools, tertiary institutions and community groups from each region and those who sign up can gain experience in a range of areas including Artist Liaison, Decor, Event, Production, Publicity and festival bump in and bump out.

CREATIVE CONNECTION – WORKSHOPS, GIGS AND LOCAL BUSINESSES
There will be a very diverse range of workshops and gigs running across our regions this year, with something for everyone from aspiring DJs and budding musicians, to lovers of pickled vegetables! We’re also offering local businesses opportunities to raise funds for a range of charities, including those who assist Australians affected by catastrophic bushfires and flooding.

POWDER PEN
Returning nationally in 2020 GTM’s Powder Pen will keep you looking festival fresh around the country! For a small donation, you can get a quick hair and make-up “zjoosh” thanks to local beauty, barbershop and hairdressing salons. A portion of proceeds from the Powder Pen will go back to the charity of the salons’ choice.

RAINBOW SPACES
We’re thrilled to be teaming up with local LGBTQIA+ organisations in each region to present a space that is interactive, inclusive and most importantly, celebratory of all things rainbow.
We engage local drag queens, DJs and artists to bring to these spaces to life and keep the party going all day and night. Think country hospitality, delivered with fabulous flair.
