top 5 Music Memes of 2019
lil nas x – Old Town Road
Every melody is a hook, every line is a meme. Lil Nas X gave us a lesson on social media branding with his roll out. The song epitomises the cowboy emoji.

The BoyBoy West Coast – U Was At The Club
I was first made aware of this song by my manager earlier in the year. He had discovered it via the instagram page @foosgonewild. The song & the original snippet video is so amazing/catchy/cringey/awkward. “i weirdly stan

thank you, next
not so much of a meme, but if you imagine her saying “bacon, eggs” in the chorus…. you canʼt unhear it

baby shark – pinkfong
This is truly what I hear when I have sleep paralysis. Baby Shark Doo doo doo doo has been everywhere on the internet recently & can be heard in so many ridiculous memes. The most horrific was a hybrid version of Baby Shark that blended with another meme “Johnny Johnny Yes Papa”.
.
Shallow – Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper
This song dominated radio & the internet for a while and created the perfect amount of hype for A Star Is Born. The song was memed in many ways, like to imply that Lady Gaga is in love with Bradley. There can be people in a room and 99 of them donʼt believe in you “but all it takes is one and it just changes your whole life”.

GUARD..
“I’m Calling The Cops”

Melbourne via LA’s purveyor of pop greatness GUARD returns in 2019 to kick ass, take names and possibly report you to the FED’s for breaking his heart with new track “I’m Calling The Cops”, premiered by Music Feeds. A glitchy PC-music inspired track that allows both the unique tones of GUARD’s vocal to swirl and mix with the late-night vibe of the production, the track is an instant love and a warning to not go breaking GUARD’s heart.
Pop works best when there’s a beating, sometimes bleeding, heart at the centre of it. The power of putting soaring pop melodies together with a pervasive sense of melancholy is something GUARD has been honing in on now for quite some time. He really perfects the balance between the two within this latest emotionally-weighted track “I’m Calling The Cops”.
Listen to GUARD talk about the new single on US podcast Clear The Haze here.

Produced by LA producer notfamous and Charli XCX’s producer Umru, GUARD describes the song as an emo electronic pop song with elements of PC music, about letting go of unhealthy patterns in his life and becoming content with who he is as a person.
Watch the music video for GUARD’s previous track, “Cognitive Dissonance”, here.
Raised in South Africa, living in Melbourne for a time, and now currently residing in LA, GUARD is a true hidden gem of the Aus-pop world. His previous track “Raincoats”, which was produced by Felix Snow (Kiiara, Terror. Jnr) gained traction internationally and premiered via V Magazine.

Through his own productions, GUARD has amassed remarkable streams on digital streaming platforms — his biggest track to date, “Pineapple Crush,” features his own vocals and production with an impressive 2.7 million streams on Spotify. Guard’s 2017 single “Xylophone” continues to dominate Spotify as well, sitting pretty at 1.3 million streams.
Beyond his infatuation with making music, GUARD is an the unchallenged Meme lord of the internet. He’s the sole admin of mega-popular Instagram meme accounts @tindervsreality and @mycringe, which boast 1.3 million followers and 437,000 followers respectively. He’s witty, he’s a brilliant artist and he knows exactly what you need before you even knew you needed it. There is no one else out there quite like GUARD.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
