“Not only is the tune explosive, Michael’s song writing is enrapturing. The song’s frenetic pace perfectly provides the framework for his story of feeling trapped, emotionless, and lost”.

Melbourne-based indie-rock trio Halcyon Drive are celebrating a major milestone today, with the release of their long-awaited debut album ‘Elephant Bones’.
Recorded and co-produced by Eskimo Joe legend Joel Quartermain (Meg Mac, Dustin Tebbutt, British India), the twelve-track record arrives on a wave of hype triggered by the success of five previously released singles – ‘Silver Ray’, ‘Agnosia’, ‘The Birds’, ‘Only Youth’ and fresh cut ‘Reach’ – all of which have won acclaim across the likes of triple j, Spotify, MTV, community radio and worldwide tastemaker blogs.
Weaving together pure pop hooks and intricate rhythms, Halcyon Drive’s maiden LP brims with a rare, off-kilter energy. From the heartfelt lows of ‘Satellite’ to the in-your-face attitude of ‘Agnosia’, it’s a richly diverse offering characterised by considered lyricism, no safe choices, and most definitely no clichés.
Lead singer Michael Oechsle describes the album as a truly collaborative effort, “a kind of creative ping-pong” between himself and drummer/co-writer Max Pamieta. It’s a record that continually pushes and pulls on the bands roots, exploring new sonic territory on each track.
‘Elephant Bones’ also represents the culmination of three years’ worth of relentless writing and touring from the triple j Unearthed finds, whose career has encompassed sold-out headline shows, performances at The Hills are Alive Festival, Festival of The Sun and a support slot on Stereophonics’ sold-out Australian tour.
And to celebrate today’s big release, Halcyon Drive will naturally be hitting the road once again. They’ve just announced a slew of national headline dates, which will see them hit stages in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
‘Elephant Bones’ is available now.
