Hot off of their Juno Award win for Adult Alternative Album of the Year for A Blemish in the Great Light and a string of successful singles shared from isolation, Montreal indie outfit Half Moon Run is releasing their EP Seasons of Change (Glassnote Records). The folk/indie-rock EP follows the release of “Grow Into Love”, “All At Once” and “Look Me in the Eyes”.

“Seasons Of Change” is infused with sunlight, carried along by delicately-plucked acoustic lines, soft drumlines and expansive, reverb-drenched guitars and keeps with the band’s signature ethereal multi-layered vocals, paired with atmospheric instrumentation that alternates between meek and near-frantic.

Formed in 2009 in Montreal’s Mile End neighbourhood, Half Moon Run have spent the last eleven years practicing and perfecting their craft, as demonstrated through their discography of three successful albums and a slew of smash hits.

Half Moon Run have consistently proven themselves to be the ones to watch as their albums Dark Eyes and Sun Leads Me On have achieved platinum and gold status, respectively, in their native country. The release of Sun Leads Me On in 2015 welcomed very warm reviews from music media and saw the band climb the charts worldwide, especially in Australia — “Turn Your Love”, which served as the album’s second single, reached #1 on triple j and received extensive airplay from the station.

Following a tremendous 24 months of touring, the band took some time to rest before returning to the studio to cook up their third LP. 2019’s A Blemish in the Great Light saw the band take strands from their previous work, utilising multi-layered instrumentation, intricate shapes and patterns, and a veritable cascading of melody, merging it with more vivid colours and a hint of playfulness.

Now, Half Moon Run have returned with a collection of gorgeous singles, each premiered with its own isolation-style live performance video, showcasing the delicate three-part harmonies that have become the band’s signature over the years.

Like their third album, the songs were all produced by Joe Chiccarelli (The White Stripes, My Morning Jacket, The Strokes) at Planet Studio in Montreal except for “Monster” which was co-produced by the band and Samuel Woywitka at Double Kreme Studio. The full EP was mixed by Chris Shaw and mastered by Greg Calbi.

The band have always been known for their live shows, which Dansende Beren describes best, “The public loves Half Moon Run, and that is mutual. You can’t get more love and warmth going on in an evening.” The band were ready to continue to spread that love through a long list of 2020 tour dates, but with the world in isolation, they have had to readjust. In the meantime, they hope to deliver as much of that energy as they can by continuing to share new performance videos and music with the world.
