To be released on Friday 20 July 2018, HAPPY is the first full-length album by Sydney indie-pop artist Danielle Deckard.
Drawing inspiration from the production techniques of the early 80s, Danielle’s uniquely melancholic songwriting is accompanied on this album by a full suite of FM synthesisers, gated drums, chorused guitars, fretless bass, and wobbly tape delay. Danielle and her bandmates each contributed to the album’s highly dynamic arrangements. Much of the recording was completed at Danielle’s own home studio.
From the thumping, reverberant drum kit of the album’s title track, to the crystalline electric guitars of “Honey”, to the sweeping Juno synthesiser pads of “Sky Falls Down”, Happy’s nostalgic musical soundscape serves to enhance and deepen Danielle’s storytelling.
In June, Danielle successfully concluded a Pozible campaign to raise $8000. Among other things, these funds will go towards the physical production of the album in both CD and vinyl formats.
The third and final single from the album, SKY FALLS DOWN, will be released on Friday 13 July. The single will be accompanied by a music video directed by Jefferton James, notable Australian director and visual collaborator on the Happy project.
