PRAISE
“Hassall pens a number that makes you feel alive with every line.” TRIPLE J UNEARTHED, SARA GLADIOUS
“Hassall is a great songwriter and a tour de force” TIM ROGERS, YOU AM I
“‘Dinner Table’ oozes personality from the get-go. With a confident performance full of conviction and charm, Hassall’s story-teller delivery on the track could be sonically likened to the work of legendary Australian songwriters such as Courtney Barnett, Angie McMahon or Middle Kids.” SHE MAKES MUSIC, HELEN EVANS
“There’s something really appealing about an artist who makes the most of every lyric and every moment of a track. It’s the mark of a good storyteller and intelligent songwriter when you can hear them pick into every line for maximum meaning and maximum impact” TRIPLE J, DAVE RUBY HOWE

Exploring growth, relationships and personal journeys through an ever-changing social climate, MEANS MORE TO ME THAN IT DOES TO YOU is the perfect moment of arrival from Naarm singer-songwriter, Hassall.
Following on from a string of successful single releases in recent months, Hassall presents a concise and evocative collection of music here – a strong debut outing from one of Victoria’s most exciting names out.
Recorded at Sydney’s Golden Retriever Studios, Means More To Me came together in 2023. The process brought Hassall together with producer Dave Jenkins Jr, and from there formed a strong creative relationship. Says Hassall of meeting her new collaborator, “I was shopping for a new producer. I had worked with a couple of great ones, but none who I ever felt completely and utterly comfortable with, and who made my songs feel like *magic*. Dave Jenkins Jr was exactly that. My partner-cross-drummer Will & I paid him a visit at Golden Retriever Studios in Marrickville where his studio is, to record one song and see how it went.”
The album, introspective and honest in terms of its songwriting and lyricism, represents a period of time where Hassall found herself asking questions regarding the direction her career was heading; what she wanted from this lifestyle, and where things were going next.
The listener can hear these resolutions found in songs including ‘Overpopulater’, ‘You’re Stuck With Me’ and the focus track, ‘Dumbest Smile’.
‘Dumbest Smile’, an album touchstone, is a prime example of Hassall’s natural performance talents – offering moments of intimacy and nuance with entertaining arrangement.
Hassall explains of the album’s themes, “The album deals with some recurring themes – these include procrastination, soft neuroticism, the downfalls of rising technology, and of course, love. Also discussed in less detail are: issues around intimacy, drinking too much coffee, 2000s teen dramas, vaping, and virtue signalling. Thing that the average twenty something within a 25km radius of any major city is well-versed in.
‘Means More To Me Than It Does To You’ is a mixtape of songs that soundtracked my past few years of moving away from my hometown, “working on myself”, and as always, falling in and out of love with far too many boys. I am so proud of this body of work.”
Hassall has made waves throughout the Melbourne indie scene for a few years now; supporting the likes of Killing Heidi (support for recent Australian tour) Crash Test Dummies (CAN), The Scratch (IRE), MIa Wray, The Beautiful Girls, DICE, Pacific Avenue, Majak Door, Adam Newling, You Am I, Jacob Fitzgerald and Little Quirks; and playing festivals such as Darker Days Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Queenscliff Music Festival, Homegrown Festival, By The Pier and White Night Geelong. On top of that, Hassall has seen significant radio support from triple J, triple J Unearthed, SYN, Inner FM, 2SER, 3MDR, 4ZZZ, & PBS, and praise from local tastemakers such as Music Feeds, Rolling Stone, Forte Magazine and more.
She’s showing no signs of slowing down in 2025 – with a national tour lined up with Killing Heidi and an upcoming appearance at Darker Days Festival in Bright, Victoria.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
