+ First Australian Tour Announcement

HATCHIE debut EP SUGAR & SPICE out today & first Australian tour this July.
.
‘There is an ease to her music; the three singles she’s released so far waft like a balmy breeze.’ – Pitchfork
‘Her particular brand of pop music is a rhythmic, lifting and 90s-embracing nod to carefree, happier days and with a brace of joyous breakthrough singles such as ‘Try’, ‘Sure’ and ‘Sugar & Spice’ under her belt.’ – The 405
‘Hatchie swoops into earshot… a marvellous mesh of Cocteau Twins-y atmospherics & jangly 90’s pop.’ – The Line of Best Fit
‘Inject a bit of Hatchie’s cavernous-feeling millennium pop into your veins and it could probably power you through an entire night; get a taste of ‘Sleep’ for example, and you probably won’t be getting any.’ – Fader
Bursting onto the scene only 12 short months ago with her debut single ‘Try’, and following it up with three equally stunning offerings, ‘Sure’, ‘Sugar & Spice’ and ‘Sleep’, Ivy League Records is thrilled to release Brisbane artist Hatchie’s debut EP Sugar & Spice, available today.
In equally exciting news, Hatchie will be taking Sugar & Spice to the live stage for her first Australian headline tour this July, playing Melbourne’s Workers Club, a sold out Oxford Art Factory Gallery in Sydney and finishing in her hometown of Brisbane on Saturday July 14 at Black Bear Lodge. A handful of tickets are still available to the Melbourne and Brisbane shows. Before the Sugar & Spice Tour, Hatchie will support DMA’S on their For Now Album Tour, which is almost completely sold out.
Hatchie (real name Harriette Pilbeam) says of the EP, “These songs were written more for myself than for a specific project, in an effort to explore feelings of vulnerability and ecstasy I had previously suppressed. I wanted them to sound lush, sparkly, and recreate euphoric feelings I experienced falling in love for the first time. They were all written without much thought or pressure from myself or anyone else, allowing me to lay my feelings out like I’ve never done before. Joe Agius (The Creases) and producer John Castle helped shape the sound you can hear in each track, bringing life to each song in its own special way.”
Hatchie is enjoying a wave of hugely-deserved acclaim the world over. With international demand calling her name, the last couple of months has seen Hatchie travelling the world to perform to fans in the US and UK. Hatchie’s tour passport includes stamps from festivals like SXSW and The Great Escape (to capacity rooms), as well as a handful of London headline shows to 400+ crowds.
Glowing reviews have followed Hatchie around and don’t seem to be slowing down with the likes of Pitchfork (including a Pitchfork Rising feature and Best New Track piece on ‘Sleep’), Popjustice, Wonderland and The Guardian UK, triple j, FBi, Spotify, Apple Music, Purple Sneakers, VICE, TheMusic and many more rewarding her undeniable craft with shimmering praise.
