It’s hard to envy a new artist trying to catch a break in 2021. Do you sit tight, wait it out and let it all blow over? Or crack on and try to take advantage of all this limitless downtime in a bid to find all those eager ears? Hauskey (Andy to his pals) hasn’t a clue. He doesn’t know what’s best. He’s just a bloke making music in his bedroom in Australia. Whatever you think.
We think he’s made a good decision. “Go Wrong” is his first new music since last year’s debut EP Slow landed, and it’s another delicious slice of laissez-faire, sunshine-toasted slacker pop with high emphasis on the “pop.” It’s a breeze. A cool glass of Vimto. Just the ticket.
Of “Go Wrong,” Hauskey says, “If you’ve heard my music, you’ve probably picked up an air of pessimism in my writing. Lately, some exciting stuff has been happening, but my natural tendency to expect the worst is holding me back from enjoying it. And so, we have ‘Go Wrong;’ me and my brain being unable to celebrate a win, however small, because it’s so quickly on the lookout for the next stumbling block.”
“Go Wrong” follows Hauskey’s 2020 debut and breakout singles, “Slow” and “Somewhere,” which have amassed nearly 2 million Spotify streams each and received airplay support from Australia’s triple j, UK’s BBC Radio 1 and more. Not to mention, Billboard praised his latest single, “Silver Lining,” saying, “Gentle and self-effacing, the track is ripe for Rex Orange County and Clairo fans to toss onto their favorite playlists,” while LADYGUNN described it as “a feel good mellow yet soulful pop song perfect for riding around in your car.”

To celebrate the release, today Hauskey announces he is hitting the Australian East Coast this April, with a run of shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
Of the upcoming shows, Hauskey says, “One of my favourite things is stripping a song and re-imagining it live, and I’ve been working with a talented group of musicians, so pretty damn excited to take it on the road! So many new songs to play.”
It’s still early days for Hauskey, but they’ve been good ones by anyone’s standards, even his. This is a guy who founded a music school just to make a few extra dollars whilst studying and left it (primarily to spend more time on his own music) as a fully flourishing place of education in its own right. That he knows his way around a decent melody should be of little surprise. Take debut single “Slow” for example. It nestled neatly on the playlist at Australia’s triple j last year and eloped across to the UK, finding him fans at Radio 1 and more. The groundwork is being laid, and it already feels solid. Ready for building.
Hauskey writes bops. Technicolor bops, with one eye on his compatriot Kevin Parker for that shatterproof drivetime hook and bassline, and the other divided equally amongst the slacker-fraternity from Mac DeMarco to Kevin Abstract. It harnesses synths and guitars and whatever else, capped by a smooth, quasi-R&B vocal. Sounds simple enough, but all good things are. The art of making things sound simple. That’s Andy.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
