Heaps Good Friends – Emma Fradd (vocals / guitar), Nick O’Connor (bass / vocals) and Dan Steinert (drums) – are the trio known for delivering lyrically playful, synth pop treats. They released the hilarious video for latest ‘I Could Eat a Full Packet of Yo Yos’, which was directed by them together with Aaron Schuppan and filmed in Adelaide’s beautiful heritage-listed Capri Cinema. Hug Me is a pocketful of fireworks, a six-track explosion of synths, catchy hooks and undeniable beats.

Hug Me is a sonic explosion of synth lines, tongue in cheek lyrics, 80s infused electric power drum runs, wrapped up in a shining collection of dancefloor bangers. Sometimes nonsensical but always entertaining subject matter, Hug Me keeps you guessing what’s around every corner. It opens with first single and much-loved track ‘Let’s Hug Longer’, which was the #9 most played track on triple j in 2017. Infectious ‘Olympic Sneakers’ was the second single released from the EP and moves through intricate vocal lines, through hypnotic synth runs and clashing sound FX. ‘Online Shopping Trolley’ has lush vocals across, thoughtful synth layers and cleverly placed sound effects before moving into ‘I Could Eat a Full Packet of Yo Yo’s’, the fast moving, quick witted track that is every morsel a dancefloor pop banger. ‘Cry Like A Psycho’ highlights Emma’s vocals with charming layered harmonies abed jungle drums, with EP closer ‘Lobster Bibs’ an upbeat power track moving through phases of pumping bass lines, jumping drums, and every present power synth.

To celebrate the release of Hug Me, Heaps Good Friends are hitting the road for their first ever national headline tour this March and April. Playing a stack of dates across Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle, Adelaide and Perth, the trio have announced an incredible list of supports who will be joining them including Slowcoaching, Feels Club and Froyo.
