Today, ARIA-chart topping duo Hermitude return with their latest single, “When You Feel Like This” featuring The Jungle Giants, ahead of their forthcoming album, Mirror Mountain, out May 6 via Elefant Traks.
As the third offering from their impending full-length album, today’s single is driven by a two-step beat, and the distinctive falsetto of The Jungle Giants’ frontman, Sam Hales. Immediately addictive, the melodic knack of both acts pairs perfectly with the modulated synths and crisp percussion that have come to define Hermitude’s newest work. A fast-paced chorus and overthrow of building momentum ensures “When You Feel Like This” is ready to be heard on a dancefloor.
Directed by Daniel Merson, the accompanying video follows a young boy on the run in the twists and turns of Blue Mountain streets, narrowly avoiding a group of monkey-masked pursuers. Filmed with a delicate, vintage grain filter, the clip follows the footsteps of predecessors “St. Claire” and “Promises” using a surreal storytelling lens to capture the energy of Hermitude’s hometown, delivering the perfect match for the feel-good sound of the track.
Hermitude say of the release, “‘When You Feel Like This’ is the positive peak of the album, it’s the feel good vibe that we wanted on the record. It was mid pandemic when we were writing and we wanted some positivity to burst through the bleakness of the time. Getting Sam on board for ‘When You Feel Like This’ was a great experience. He’s one of those people with a really infectious energy and it was super inspiring to be around in the studio. Just good vibes and fun and I think his style was a perfect fit for the positive angle we were looking for with ‘When You Feel Like This’ and the album.”

“When You Feel Like This” follows the bands’ New Year’s Eve heater, “St Claire” and most recent single, “Promises” featuring Andie. Together, they welcomed a visceral re-energising and musical homecoming for the pair, following their previous long-play, Pollyanarchy, released in 2019. Since release, “Promises” has received triple j and community radio support alike, while, “St Claire” has enjoyed widespread Spotify and Apple Music support globally, as well as additions to the former’s Front Left, The Local List and New Music Friday playlists. Both were recorded in a Blackheath home studio, after multiple writing trips across New Zealand and Japan. Their forthcoming record, Mirror Mountain is El Gusto and Dubs’ audio love letter to the region’s local community and the regrowth it inspired within the Hermitude project. Driven by the serene and silent surroundings, their seventh full length release sees Hermitude continue this return to their roots in more ways than one, taking a deep dive into their core musical DNA while paying homage to the fans who have been there from the very beginning.

Award-winning multi-instrumentalists Luke Dubs and El Gusto have moved from strength to strength as Hermitude, since meeting in their early teens. First signing to Elefant Traks in 2002, the pair have marked out a sonic footprint that is defined by their hip-hop roots and electronic soundscapes. Their 2012 album, Hyperparadise would see its title track reach #38 on the ARIA Charts and its Flume remix hit speakers everywhere, while their single “Speak of the Devil” would win a J Award for Music Video of the Year. Their follow-up album, Dark Night Sweet Light debuted at #1 on the ARIA Charts, with single “The Buzz” firmly placing them on the world map. Their Pollyanarchy LP again reflected the duo’s development as one of the country’s best duos, adored by triple j and press nationally. Most recently, “Hyperparadise” received a Tropkillaz remix, and its previous flip from Flume and GANZ was featured on EA Sports’ FIFA 2022 soundtrack.
Having toured the world at their own sold-out headline shows, and at some of the biggest festivals, including Splendour in the Grass, Groovin The Moo, Falls Festival, Field Day, Spilt Milk, St Jerome’s Laneway Festival, Lollapalooza, The Governors Ball and more, Hermitude’s return to the live stage is hugely anticipated for fans worldwide in 2022. Coming up, Hermitude will venture to the Gold Coast on April 2 for Format Festival, while Western Australian fans will be in for a treat when the pair play Busselton’s Out of the Woods festival across the ANZAC Day long weekend later that month. Then, the friends will play an immersive headline show at Sydney Opera House on June 2, as part of the stacked 2022 VIVID LIVE line-up.
Meanwhile, listen to the latest single and piece of their forthcoming album, “When You Feel Like This” from one of Australia’s best electronic acts, as they prepare to share their hugely awaited record, Mirror Mountain in May.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
