Raised on years worth of touring across a stream of hardcore outfits, for High Vis live performance is key to their medium; a means to experience their atypical style and to connect as leaders of post-punks richest and most varied time period. Joining the group across two headline shows includes Geld, Serpette, Peace Ritual, and Best Believe at Stay Gold Melbourne, with Histamine, Shady Nasty, Compound and Succ at Oxford Art Factory Sydney. The announcement follows the release of High Vis’ latest single ‘Mob DLA’ on Dais Records, with widespread acclaim lauding the “post punk greats” (No Echo) for their aptitude to balance “vital meaning” (Kerrang!) with “grooving and warble-saturated guitar hooks” (Revolver Magazine), plus more locally supported by Tone Deaf and triple j.

Birthed in 2016 from a cross-section of beloved UK punk groups, London’s High Vis have steadily become legends by virtue of their passionate performances and evolving discography of poetic, progressive hardcore. Comprised of singer Graham Sayle, drummer Edward ‘Ski Harper, bassist Jack Muncaster, and guitarists Martin Macnamara and Rob Hammaren, the band fuse the fury of English street punk with touches of Brit pop melody, neo-psychedelic swirl, wiry post-punk rhythm, and even bits of Madchester groove. To Sayle, such melting pot energy points the way forward: “For years hardcore had pretty clear boundaries–other scenes were separate worlds. Now things are getting more blended, drawing from different places.”

Their 2019 debut No Sense No Feeling put them on the map, broadening the scope of the hardcore veterans beyond the scene while creating self-described “post-industrial-Britain misery punk.” The celebrated follow up, 2022’s Blending includes the tracks ‘Talk For Hours‘ and ‘Trauma Bonds‘ and not only expands upon the sonic breadth of High Vis, but vocalist Sayle opened his chest cavity through his lyrics discussing social issues and political miseries while reaching a hand out to folks listening to give a message of hope. Theirs is a camaraderie born of sweat and experience, years in the trenches of ripping shows and shit jobs, still fighting back, still fighting for something better. High Vis are proving themselves protectors of the flame, and avatars of the best hardcore has to offer.
