UNVEIL STUNNING VIDEO FOR
‘5 MILLION MILES’
25 miles, 500 miles, 1000 miles – the pop world owes much to these daring proclamations of linear love, but Highasakite embarks uncharted territory on their new single – and today comes a stunning new video accompaninent for the powerful new single. The fascinating part about the video, is that it was filmed entirely by an in-car camera, through the windshield.
The music video follows Ingrid Helene Håvik on a journey through various different locations in Norway. Taking the viewer through rough and industrial tunnels and harbour scenes, shots from the beautiful Norwegian countryside, and glossy, heavily lighted indoor studio settings.
Speaking on the making of the video, Ingrid said: “The shoot took about two days. Two very long days – we weren’t finished until 4am on the last day. We were shooting in and around Oslo, and the tunnel shots were about an hour out of the city in a place called Gran. I haven’t worked with a production team that large before. There were so many people involved, and it was quite scary at first. I had a really great stylist thats called Afaf Ali. I work with her as often as I can. I remember that I worked with a crow once in a previous video, but that horse was amazing. It was so huge, but still very calm and kind.”
To get the exciting and dynamic framing and camera movement, the car the video was filmed with had to be lifted up in the air by heavy crane systems, pushed around on dolly wheels and dragged on the back of a low loader among other things – resulting in a music video you never would guess is shot through the windshield of a car.
Spot added this month on triple j, ‘5 Million Miles’ highlights the soaring signature vocal of Ingrid Helene Håvik, this time in collaboration with pop-production powerhouse STARGATE (Beyonce, Rihanna, Sia, P!nk) and mixed by Grammy-Award winner and repeat Billboard offender MILES WALKER. It navigates meteoric apocalypse with effortless pop sheen, signalling Highasakite’s first new music since #1 charting, Norwegian Grammy-winning sophomore album of last year, ‘Camp Echo’.
Highasakite has gone from strength-to-strength since releasing ‘Camp Echo’– racking up millions of streams along the way, alongside a busy live schedule including main stage headlines at Norway’s five biggest festivals; Glastonbury, Latitude (UK), Hurricane (DE), Roskilde (DK) and Field Day (AUS); and sold out venues spanning the UK, US and Australia. The album is internationally acclaimed, inciting rave reviews from the likes of Vogue, MOJO, The Guardian, The Independent, The FADER, Q Magazine and The Line of Best Fit. Not to mention, repeat playlisting at triple j (AUS) and #1 Radio Chart in Norway.
Highasakite toured Australia over the summer with appearances at Southbound Festival, Beyond the Valley, Field Day, as well as sold out headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney. Singles ‘Someone Who’ll Get It’ and ‘Golden Ticket’ were both highly rotated on triple j with the latter amassing over 1 million streams in Australia alone.
The new single follows Highasakite’s recent performance at the Nobel Peace Prize, where Håvik caught the keen eye of Conan O’Brien, who promptly booked a special guest performance on his show on May 2. Watch here.
