Dynamic Hip Hop duo, Karnage N Darknis, are super excited to announce their new collaboration with rock icons Chocolate Starfish. ‘Mountain’, originally recorded by Chocolate Starfish in 1994, achieved gold record status and, stayed in the Top 20 Australian Music Charts for sixteen weeks.
Now, ‘Mountain 2.0’ takes on a whole new sound when Hip Hop meets Rock on the new single to be released digitally on July 13, 2018, through CAAMA Music. This single has hit written all over it and crosses the great divide brilliantly between the two genres.
“I must admit, I was surprised when the invitation to collaborate came from CAAMA. When I met Karnage N Darknis, I knew that this would be something truly special, both in the process and in the final track. I love Tristrum and Corinna’s lyrics – they are real and raw and relevant to everyone. They portray a sense of struggle but with a powerful, positive message that lights a fire and inspires hope, I love what ‘Mountain’ has become with this collaboration and can’t wait to share it with our fans and new audiences!” – Adam Thompson, lead singer of Chocolate Starfish.
Thompson joined Karnage N Darknis (Tristrum Watkins and Corinna Hall) in Alice Springs, where they worked together to write, record their vocals and shoot the song’s video clip.

“I remember the song from the 90’s, we grew up with that iconic Aussie rock and hip hop music. So, together we came up with the idea of a remix and to collaborate with Chocolate Starfish. We can really relate to the lyrics of the original song, you know, trying to break down barriers and to be somebody when others are trying to bring you down or want you to be something else, so it was a natural flow to collaborate”. – Tristrum Watkins aka Karnage
Karnage N Darkniss have supported the best in the business including Paul Kelly, Coloured Stone, No Fixed Address, Archie Roach, Jessica Mauboy as well as hip hop legends Naughty By Nature, Bone Thugs, Ja Rule, Scribe, Savage, K-Rino and Outlaws. They have performed at some of the most prestigious festivals including Dreaming Festival in Queensland, Spirit Festival in Adelaide, Sprung Hip Hop Festival Gold Coast with the late DJ Encore and Inala Festival in Brisbane.
