Hit producer
CYRIL

Having built an impressive, worldwide acclaimed resume with his dance pop productions, Australian DJ/producer CYRIL now makes a surprise turn to deeper territory, as he presents his first ever club-focused EP, ‘This isn’t what you think it is’. Featuring four electronically charged DJ weapons, including recent club gem “I Got Love” (feat. Nate Dogg), this release was immediately picked up for major media and streaming attention, including a high-profile announcement for Spotify Australia’s WRAPPED campaign, as well as DJ support by Martin Garrix, Dom Dolla and Diplo. All together, it marks an exciting next step in CYRIL’s ongoing evolution as an artist, showcasing his ability to build bridges between catchy, contemporary pop and raw, uncut club sounds.

CYRIL has catapulted to quick international fame following his 2023 breakthrough single “Stumblin’ In,” a tune that saw him rework the eponymous 1978 hit with a smooth, 21st century dance pop production. Kickstarted by a TikTok video that amassed millions of views, things started rolling for CYRIL, leading to an official signing with Spinnin’ Records and an equally successful official release of the song, currently counting over 700 million streams on Spotify alone.

A true Aussie of the moment, CYRIL kept dropping gold from then on, adding his trademark sound to Disturbed hit “The Sound Of Silence” (600 million+ Spotify streams as we speak), teaming up with Robin Schulz on hit single “World Gone Wild”, reworking The La’s 90’s hit “There She Goes” into pop house bliss, and working alongside pop phenomenon James Blunt on the melancholic single “Tears Dry Tonight.”

This isn’t what you think it is EP

Aptly titled, CYRIL’s newest release doesn’t follow his earlier sound designs. ‘This isn’t what you think it is’ sees the producer explore a deeper, more uncut style, diving into vivid tech house rhythms and raw progressive chords, spread across four EP tracks that emphasise the Australian’s ability to also drop harder and distinct club sounds.

Led by recent club hit “I Got Love” (feat. Nate Dogg), a tune that perfectly connects the dots between early 21st century hip hop vibes and CYRIL’s inventive production style, this EP only dives deeper from there on.

From the raw, pulsating chords on “Overdrive” (alongside Rome Fortune) to the ominous soundscapes on “Move Your Body” and the distorted samples and pitched down rhythmics on “128, 140, 112 (Surrender),” each track breathes a fresh, experimental take on modern day dance music, kept together in sturdy tech house beats and a mesmerising progressive guise.

CYRIL is clearly broadening his musical palette, which hasn’t gone unnoticed by the outside world. Upon release of the EP, the DJ/producer partnered with Spotify Australia for a high-profile announcement of their WRAPPED campaign. Consequently, the EP secured a strong #8 position on the Spotify Super Charts for New Music Friday, signalling widespread industry and playlist support.

CYRIL also appeared live on Australia’s national Morning Sunrise TV show, discussing both the EP and the WRAPPED partnership while even delivering the weather segment, underscoring his popularity among both club and mainstream audiences.

‘This isn’t what you think it is’ is sure to keep temperatures rising for a long while. With early DJ support including Martin Garrix, KREAM, Timmy Trumpet, Dom Dolla and more and the EP peaking at #6 on 1001tracklists Trending Charts, it’s clear CYRIL has got the crowds hooked once again, though with a serious twist of sound this time round.
