Praise for HOLLOW COVES
“Their debut album, Moments, builds on its promise with a succession of smartphone-aloft songs that belong on the same shelf as Jackson Brown, Arcade Fire and early Ben Howard. This is music for the great outdoors, with the wind in your hair and hope in your heart.” – Sunday Times (UK)
“The Brisbane duo reflect on little nostalgic moments, backed by stunning harmonies and acoustic guitars and piano” – Billboard
“I’m not crying, you’re crying. Damn, Matt and Ryan, this is beautiful, and Priscilla really lifts this to an ethereal special moment.” – Triple J, Pip Rasmussen (‘Lonely Nights’, 2021)
“The self-reflective lyrics with the harmonising vocals combined with earthy folk acoustics are perfectly executed. Listening to this record, the world around us could disappear but we’d still be in bliss, with good energy surrounding us.” – Clash (UK)
“…The perfect playlist for lazy weekend afternoons during the coming summertime.” – Blank GC

Off the back of the gorgeous single ‘Hello’ released in April, Brisbane’s Hollow Coves open up their arms and welcome fans and newcomers alike to their brand new EP, BLESSINGS. The five-track collection of songs is marked by warmth and richness in songwriting; the duo of Matt Carins and Ryan Henderson thriving at a new creative peak.
Written and recorded by the band in their home studio on the Gold Coast, Blessings came together during a time where togetherness and support of one another couldn’t have been more crucial. Music has become an avenue of escape for many over the last 12 months and with the release of Blessings, Hollow Coves offer another opportunity to get swept away by music that will help free your mind.
When it came to writing for the Blessings EP, Hollow Coves found themselves in a position where ideas came organically – not as a result of touring around the globe, or seismic-level life events. No, simply being stuck inside bred creativity, with both Matt and Ryan learning more about their craft and applying it to the creation and production of their music.
Vocally, the band’s harmonies are at their best throughout the EP – some of their strongest recorded material to date. You could hear influences as varied as Holy Holy, The Middle East and The National strewn through Blessings; the title track and ‘Evermore’ hold particular emotional weight.

Producing Blessings themselves, Hollow Coves orchestrated everything from the ground up, giving its final product extra gravitas.
“We had a bit of a different approach towards this EP. We didn’t really write these songs to fit together. We were just trying to write anything that came to us. Most of these songs were written during the Stay-at-Home COVID period. We also ended up recording and producing most of the songs ourselves. We built a small home studio during COVID and had to learn how to do everything from scratch. The process took quite a long time because we really had no idea what we were doing.” – Hollow Coves
Set to tour the Blessings EP through May and June this year, Hollow Coves are excited to finally be able to get out on the road. It will serve as much as a reintroduction as it will be a chance to road test the new music live.
“We’re super pumped to finally get back out on the road to play some shows! We can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on and just have fun. Playing shows is one of the biggest elements of what we do and we’re so grateful that people actually come and share the experience with us.” – Hollow Coves

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
