“Brisbane’s Hope D has spent the last two years quietly becoming one of the most exciting musicians in Australia.” – MUSIC JUNKEE
“It’s got the rowdy guitars and no-bullshit lyricism the Unearthed fave has become known for, but it puts a bit of a spin on her sound, chiefly in how Hope speak-sings her way rapidly through verses that are full of personality.” – TRIPLE J
“The new track has Hope’s trademark catchy beat and thoughtful lyrics. It’s a raucous 4 minute jewel of a track, featuring massive drops and rowdy guitars.” – BACKSEAT MAFIA

Following uproarious performances at BIGSOUND last month, today Hope D reveals her tempestuous new single Senseless via AWAL. The song will feature on the Brisbane based singer/songwriter’s debut album Clash of The Substance, now available Friday 10 February.
Senseless offers up confessional self-knowledge in a song that explores regret and vulnerability. “I wrote Senseless in a time in my life when I was constantly not sober to try and escape my reality of being unhappy in an on/off relationship,’ says Hope of the single. “I wasn’t talking about how I really felt and was indulging in different substances to allow me to feel numb and have a better time with where I was at because that was easier than coming to terms with the situation. It is a very angry and intense song, but the anger is directed at myself rather than my partner at the time, because I wasn’t doing anything about my unhappiness and just using drugs and alcohol to escape it. The song references my forthcoming album’s name Clash Of The Substance, and is an inspiration for all the songs on it.”
Hope D won’t be held responsible for decisions made under the influence of hormones, heartbreak, alcohol and the other intoxicants which go to war in the arena of her debut LP, Clash Of The Substance. Armed with a painful honesty, her guitar and a dangerously low balance on her debit card, the queer coming-of-age soundtrack cements her as one of Australia’s most refreshing new voices.
Produced by Aidan Hogg and mastered by Joe La Porta, Clash of the Substance features the aforementioned Senseless, the instant earworm Emerald, the infectious Hate Goodbyes and the intoxicating Happy Hangover.
Earlier this year Hope D performed her first national headline tour and took the stage at Groovin The Moo. Next on the dance card, Hope will perform at The Zoo’s 30th birthday party in Brisbane on Friday 9 December, with further dates to be announced soon.

About Hope D
Introducing herself in late 2019 with her debut single Swim, Hope D captivated audiences with her eclectic capability to create purposeful, confessional and enthralling music. This release led her to taking home the inaugural Queensland Music Awards Emerging Artist Of The Year, performances at Splendour In The Grass, Laneway Festival and King Street Crawl.
The beginning of 2020 saw her release an aptly titled second single named Second and then follow up tracks Common Denominator and Miscommunicate, wowing and surprising fans with her change in sound, but maintaining the same inviting charm and razor-sharp wit through her authentically honest, raw and relatable songs. Hope ended 2020 by winning the prestigious Carol Lloyd Award, an initiative aimed to address the gender imbalance in music and support an emerging female-identifying or non-binary singer-songwriter.
Hope’s single Second landed #69 in triple j’s Hottest 100 for 2020. Off the back of her debut EP Cash Only Hope took off on a sold out national tour playing 19 shows in 3 weeks of March 2021. The single Addict received a full addition to triple j and landed the #195 spot in triple j’s Hottest 200 for 2021. Hope was widely praised for her cover of Britney Spears’ Toxic she performed for Like A Version, last year and widely praised by the likes of NME, Tone Deaf, Music Feeds, Purple Sneakers and Pilerats.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
