Time-travelling DJ sensation Hot Dub Time Machine’s national tour has kicked off with a sensational first weekend in Perth; with an unprecedented 6,000 people turning out to dance through the decades with Hot Dub across two nights in giant inner-city pop-up warehouse.
The show – an immersive, theatrical-level spectacle that takes audiences through a chronological history of history’s quintessential dancefloor classics, from the 1950s to today, was a huge hit with enthusiastic Perth audiences, who clapped, shouted, danced and sang their way through two and half hours of “the best party ever”, revelling in mass balloon drops and confetti explosions.
The Hot Dub project’s powerhouse – DJ, VJ and MC all-in-one Tom Loud – had plenty of surprises up his sleeve for his Perth fans, bringing out talented songstress Samsaruh, as well as a live horn section. Giant disco balls turned the warehouse into a retro style dancefloor, with six huge hanging screens projecting Hot Dub’s cleverly engineered visual show, that features a mash-up of music videos and archival live music footages
Hot Dub Time Machine now gears up for another impressive showdown in Brisbane, with the time-travelling show set to turn the historic Tivoli Theatre upside-down this Friday. The DJ – who was last in Brisbane’s Canungra Valley earlier in the year for his wine and music festival Wine Machine – will treat Brisbane fans to a special, extended 2.5 hour headline set. Hometown hero, Gold Coast producer Paces, is on support opening the night’s proceedings.
Following the Brisbane, the tour heads to Melbourne’s Forum and Sydney’s Enmore Theatre for sold-out shows, with organisers recently announcing second shows in both Melbourne and Sydney for those who missed out.
