London R&B newcomer, Humble the Great, releases his debut EP every night was the same today alongside the soul banger ‘ordinary love’ (watch visualiser). every night was the same pulls together all the tracks Humble has released to date, peppered with intimate interludes and brand new songs. Humble says the EP has a deeply personal throughline, with each track detailing “the story of every emotion I felt in my relationship – conceptualised into one sleepless night.” The full project is the perfect introduction to what this rising artist has to offer – it’s his flag in the sand for what the future holds.
‘ordinary love’ is the latest single, a meaningful slow jam that, similarly to his debut ‘pink dress’, ups the emotional stakes with its romantic essence. The track received its first play last night on BBC R1 from Clara Amfo which continues the love shown for Humble across the BBC in general. BBC R1 (Introducing TOTW for ‘pink dress’), 1Xtra and 6 Music have all supported which includes the backing of a whole host of key tastemakers including Vick & Jordan, Clara, Jack Saunders, Sian Eleri, Jess Iszatt and Tom Ravenscroft & Deb Grant.
After signing a record deal with Neighbourhood Recordings (Dave, Kamal.) Humble’s debut single ‘pink dress’ was released in October last year. A solemn love letter in song form that gave us a solid insight into Humble’s writing and production style and received instant media and fan support. ‘dreams’ followed – a dreamy, lo-fi track which showcased Humble’s velvet vocals over layered harmonies. ‘u.’ featuring Kamal. kicked off 2024 and was a reflective collaboration for Valentines Day which delved into untangling the effects of a broken relationship with most recent single ‘circles’ turning in a new sound production-wise, delving deeper into influences of a classic 90’s R&B sound.
Each song on the EP moves through the different emotional stages of a break up – from anger and grief to acceptance – and showcases a different side to Humble’s talents, together building a more complete understanding of what he brings to the UK music scene right now. Each song becomes a vignette of a different moment – from ‘over it’, about the drive home immediately after the break up, through to ‘teeth’, based on a conversation Humble had with his ex-girlfriend’s mum. His candour, emotive and genuine, runs through the whole EP, a poignant and personal portrait of an incredibly talented young songwriter, who translates these stories via his impressive, accomplished off-kilter production style. In addition to a feature from label mate Kamal., every night was the same EP also features guests Amie Blu, Joe Unknown and Havelock & DanDlion.
Following the release of every night was the same, Humble the Great will headline the inaugural Pigeons & Planes stage at The Great Escape which will kick off a summer of exciting activity. This is just the beginning.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
