“There’s always something so elegant about this group that I really like, and you definitely hear it in this new song. It’s a really great track.” – Bridget Hustwaite, Good Nights / Triple J (“Day 2 Day” premiere)
“…sparkling slice of pop…quite a euphoric song – a sharp right turn from the wonderfully earnest yacht rock sound that permeated I Know Leopard’s 2019 album ‘Love Is A Landmine’, and just as delightfully out of step with the times, too.” – The Guardian (on ‘Day 2 Day’)
“It’s a stellar comeback with their left field, suave, pop slant sounding ace with hip hop kinda drums and a romance fuelling those grooves” – Declan Byrne, Home & Hosed / Triple J (on ‘Lover Automatic’)

Sydney Alt-Pop trio I Know Leopard trio are back with not one but three big announcements for the last half of 2022.
First up is the new single, ‘Nothing Is Real’, which was co-produced and mixed by Dave Hammer (Genesis Owusu, Lime Cordiale), and received a first play on triple j’s Good Nights. To launch the single the band will play November shows in Sydney and Melbourne. The third big event kicks off in just over a week’s time when they support Spacey Jane across Australia on their Here Comes Everybody national tour.

“Nothing is Real somehow surfaced from a long-neglected demo pile of nearly two years ago!” recounts lead vocalist Luke O’Loughlin. The song is the first work they’ve done with acclaimed Sydney producer / mixer Dave Hammer, who added his own take on the band’s sound. The two were keen to collaborate being long time mutual fans of each other’s work. “We liked it because the dense harmonies throw back to our early days, but the production is very much another evolution for us.”
O’Loughlin’s lyrics were his way of helping process the seemingly rapid-fire global upheavals of the last few years. “I often feel like there is this bizarre dissociation that occurs amidst all the disturbing events that are happening on our planet right now. It’s like we view the world around us through a fictional lens when it suits us, as a coping mechanism I suppose.” As always, the song features Jenny McCullagh’s shimmering violin with Rosie Fitzgerald’s precise basslines. ‘Nothing Is Real’ pushes further into the band’s beat heavy Alt Pop direction that started with their three 2021 singles, ‘Lover Automatic’, ‘Day 2 Day’ and ‘Good As What You Give’.
The band were thrilled to be personally invited by Spacey Jane to join their August national tour. The Fremantle chart toppers professed to be huge fans when they caught both I Know Leopard shows in February this year. “We couldn’t be more over the moon to be joining Spacey Jane on their album tour in August. It’s a true honour,” says O’Loughlin. “We love those guys and can’t wait to watch them play every night.” They’ll be joined on the massive twelve date tour by Melbourne four-piece Teenage Dads with many of the shows being all ages and some sold out already.
Joining I Know Leopard as special guests at their own launch shows are Floozy and Lashes in Melbourne on November 12th, while Poolroom and Edith will open the Sydney show on November 25th. Tickets for both shows are on sale now.

AMNPLIFY – ML
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
