Introducing Brisbane-based alt-indie act, Yb. who today releases his dreamlike new single “Waiting”.
Synthesising marimbas over a cool and lucid beat, “Waiting” introduces Yb.’s mellow vocals that speak to the holding patterns of love and summer crushes. Spun out and warbly in mood, an echoing of “Cause I’m waiting for you”, completes the chorus of a single fit for long days and warm nights. Working alongside producer LUCIANBLOMKAMP, and akin to Cosmo Pyke or Steve Lacy, “Waiting” will stay in your head long after its finish for its contagious breezy fun.

Yb. says of the single: “I really wanted feelings of intrigue and doubt to be the focus when creating this song. It almost felt like it was only way I could have approached it once I had the instrumental ready. I made it an initial goal of mine to convey these motifs without losing the fun, catchy, feeling of the song, so it only seemed right to create a tune where these two elements could exist in the same setting. ‘Waiting’, in its essence, is about trying to decipher the way someone feels about you when their actions don’t quite match their words.”
Prior to today’s release Yb. has unleashed a slew of singles including “Stay” feat. SVW, “Don’t Crash” and the recent triple j Unearthed premiered “Indecisive”, each with the production touch of Huy Win. These have collectively clocked more than a million streams to date, as well as gaining a co-sign from UK star, Tom Misch and praise from Dangermouse. Submerged within a musical household from a young age, Yb. lapped up a diverse range of genres from indie, rap, gospel to afro beats before taking on a unique taste of his own. Now pursuing his solo project, the Brisbane producer’s wide repertoire of influence gets an audience moving time and time again.
