Inoxia has spent almost half her life honing her talent, cutting her teeth as a busker on the city streets of Melbourne. During one such session, a passerby captured her cover of Tones & I’s ‘Dance Money’ and posted it on TikTok – the video went on to reach staggering viral views reaching over 150 million people, resulting in the young artist’s own TikTok account positively blowing up!
Moving from the streets to her new global online fan base (as well as geographically from Melbourne to Byron Bay), Inoxia has spent the past two years sharing her incredible talent with performances from her home during the pandemic. Her popularity on TikTok has now surpassed 3.5 million followers and 28.5 million views.

Today, Inoxia is beyond excited to share her debut original single ‘Cherry’ (out independently on 4 November). “I wrote this at a time when I was really struggling with my confidence, self love and control,” Inoxia explains. “It was during one of the first lockdowns right off the back of going viral. The world closed down, opportunity became fickle and the likelihood of performing again began its decline. I wanted to feel on top of the world again so I started with ‘You can call me cherry, cuz I’m always on top’ and ran with it. I’m so happy with how it’s turned out.”
Working with a handful of key collaborators, the track was assembled over Zoom. Co-written and produced by UK’s Phil Simmonds (Jessie J, Willow Smith), writer Jess Chalker (Sam Fischer, Tate McRae) was called in to contribute the final touches to the track. Mix duties fell with John O’Mahony (Coldplay, Vance Joy, Marina And The Diamonds) out of New York City.
“‘Cherry’ is the first song where I was really forward about what I wanted. It was the most ownership I have ever taken over a track,” says Inoxia of the single. “I had to record the vocals myself and learn other new skills. The process of writing and recording this song gave me a lot of confidence and you hear that in the lyrics”.
In celebration of the single’s release, Inoxia will take to TikTok on Thursday 11 November at 7pm AEDT for a live, hour-long set where she’ll perform her new single live for the very first time.
