Staying in just got better. In an Australian-first kicking off from Saturday, August 15, two-way virtual concert series Inside Sets is reigniting live interactive gigs (at home), by bringing the fans inside. Curated and hosted by industry veteran, radio presenter and label head Hau Latukefu, the music and comedy series’ creation has been driven by a wave of cancelled tours and resulting lack of audience interaction for artists and comedians alike during the period of COVID-19.
The series kicks off on August 15 with Papua New Guinea-born, now Sydney-based singer-songwriter Ngaiire, taking the Inside Sets stage with special guest and multi-instrumentalist, Milan Ring. With countless accolades under her belt including four National Live Music Awards, an FBi Radio SMAC Award for Best Live Act, the inaugural Australian Women in Music Award for Artistic Excellence, plus performances at the likes of Splendour in the Grass and Glastonbury, Ngaiire has shaped a musical identity renowned across the globe, promising a mesmerising debut show for the series.
On August 20 the series celebrates a week of Bad Apples Music talent, starting up with Australian hip-hop royalty, label head, A.B. Original MC and all-round hip-hop powerhouse, Briggs. The multi-award winning rapper will be slinging his widely-acclaimed and long-missed live show to a virtual audience across the country, performing tracks new and old such as “Bad Apples” and “Extra Extra”. Rounding out the week of Bad Apples Music on August 22 will be the unparalleled on-stage energy of Yuin MC Nooky and compelling storytelling of Gamilaroi artist Kobie Dee, armed with their powerful rhymes ready to unleash from the restraints of the lockdown era.

Supporting multiple sectors in the live entertainment industry, Inside Sets will also be livening your nights-in with a roster of comedy galas showcasing some of the country’s finest award-winning talent in the field. August 15 invites the stand-up expertise of triple Gold-Logie winning comedian and legendary TV and radio presenter Rove McManus, headlining a not-to-be-missed stand-up show with hosting duties from Bec Charlwood alongside live performances from Tom Walker (Amazon Original Very Very), Lizzy Hoo (Just For Laughs Sydney) and host of triple j lunch, David Woodhead. Hosted by Daniel Townes, August 20 backs things up with multi-award winning, internationally acclaimed actor and comedy icon Tahir with his dynamic live show, supported by widely praised comedians and writers alike including Alex Jae, Rose Callaghan, Lauren Bonner and musical comedy duo The Stevenson Experience. Not slowing down on bringing only the best, TV actor, acclaimed stand-up performer and former triple j presenter Matt Okine will also be heading up another lineup of major local talent on August 22 including Gen Fricker, Demi Larder and Luke Heggie.
The entertainment and live event industries have been devastated by the COVID-19 health crisis, with over $330m worth of cancelled gigs. Inside Sets’ mission is to deliver Australian performers the most interactive and rewarding virtual concert experience to keep their fans close regardless of physical distance during this damaging period for the industry. By bringing the fans inside via a hybrid virtual gig, performers can experience fan reactions and audience emotion live on screen during their show, enabling real time, two-way interaction unlike anything before in the era of isolation.
“With physical tours impossible across a 5-month period in 2020, Inside Sets provides artists an outlet to do what they love and to continue to provide an income for themselves, their production crews and charity partners,” Latukefu says on the series. “There have been lots of opportunities for artists to perform and connect to their fans during social distancing but very few enabled them to be paid, and none allowed visual connection outside of comments and likes. Inside Sets is the first virtual concert of its kind, and will really change how live music can be accessed moving forward.”

Audiences can purchase tickets to get ‘Inside’ and front row to a performance. Whether it’s from the shared, up close space of the Dancefloor, the stadium surround of Reserved Seating, or the special one-on-one VIP position, fans can choose how their favourite artists and local comedians see their reactions among other live on screen. Audiences also have the option to go ‘Incognito’ with a special live streaming format, catering to all concert-goers, anywhere. The series presents a breakthrough innovation for those unable to experience live music physically due to accessibility, increased health risks, age restrictions, family commitments, location, or those who are not yet ready to venture out within the COVID-19 climate.
Expanding their support for the industry even further, Inside Sets have partnered with crisis relief charity for musicians and music workers, Support Act, and music-led youth support charity, Musicians Making A Difference (MMAD). Fans are asked to help support performers by paying for tickets that cost a fraction of the price of a normal gig, with all profits going to the talent and production teams plus 10% donated to charity partners.

I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
