2022 is off to a strong start for ioakim. The South Coast bedroom producer delivers with his new single ‘mona lisa’, a retro-rock-pop track with bursting drums and ioakim’s melodious vocals front and centre. ‘mona lisa’ released via Arcadia Records was written and produced by ioakim with finishing touches done by Malcolm Besley (producer) and Andrei Eremin (master).  

ioakim shares: “mona lisa explores themes of a crowded conscious, confusion and relationships. It was written at a time last year where everything in the word felt a little uncertain. Personally I felt lost, overwhelmed and like I wanted to start over again after reflecting on the ending of a relationship.”

“The chorus lyric “I hope you think I’m just fine” encapsulates the feeling of doubt, reflecting on past events and overall just wanting someone to think you’re doing ok even though you’re really not.” he adds.

On the creation of the visualiser ioakim says: “When putting together the visualiser for mona lisa I wanted it to be intense, chaotic and for it to tie in closely with the overall colour theme of black, white and red. After brainstorming a few ideas, I set up my mum’s 15 year old camera on a tripod, hung a white sheet over my spare bedroom door and shot some footage to achieve the look I wanted!”

ioakim is taking a fresh take on the indie-pop music scene. Over the past few months he’s released two singles ‘swimming pools’ and ‘tongue tied’ via Arcadia Records and has been putting in the groundwork and winning over fans ever since. He showcases various talents with every release by producing, writing and recording all his own music as well making the creative, building the ioakim world with his own hands. As Pilerats put it, ioakim is “a multi-talented force” and it’s no doubt he’s a very exciting one at that. It’s a very big year ahead for the up-and-coming artist with more music in the pipeline and tour dates soon to be on the horizon.
