Off the back of playing his first ever shows supporting MAY-A and Flowerkid across the country, South Coast bedroom producer ioakim releases his new single ‘mess’ out now via Arcadia Records and Sony Music Entertainment Australia. The infectious track was self-produced by ioakim, with sleek finishing touches by Malcolm Besley (North East Party House). Today marks an extra special one for the artist as ioakim announces a debut EP titled feel something or nothing at all set for release on Friday September 16, pre-save here.

“I produced ‘mess’ in 2019 in my bedroom. This one is really special to me as it’s given me belief, healed me, and led to a lot of opportunities. Before ‘mess’ I was still figuring out how I wanted ‘ioakim’ to sound, however the moment this song was finished it all became clear. It subconsciously mixed elements of everything I love with hints of Phoenix, Empire of the Sun, The Strokes.” says ioakim of the track’s origins.

.
He adds:“‘mess’ is very literal in its meaning. It explores the confusion about the ending of a relationship that doesn’t make any sense to end on paper, but you know it’s just not right. The doubt between yourself and your emotions create a muddled and unbalanced situation that becomes emotionally unbreathable. The chorus lyric “lovely little mess” describes the bittersweet feelings of this kind of breakup.”

The track is accompanied by a colourful and literally ‘messy’ official music video which was shot on digital and VHS and then run through analogue visual synths. It was directed by Sydney visual arts creatives Passive Kneeling. Of the clip ioakim shares: “Instantly I was a huge fan of Tom’s (@passive.kneeling) work and could tell he would nail the vision. And that he did. I love the confused, glitched out state of confusion, overall chaos, and undeniably uncomfortable scenes that we created. Can’t say I enjoyed the last scene as much but I guess you’ll have to watch it to find out why.”

On September 16, ioakim will release his first ever debut EP feel something or nothing at all. It’ll feature new single ‘mess’, the recently released ‘passion’, fan favourite ‘mona lisa’ and three more unreleased songs.
ioakim recently played his first ever shows supporting MAY-A on her Australian east coast run and the reaction he got was more than he ever could have imagined. He won over her army of fans and sold out his entire merch collection. He also recently played at FLOWERKID’S Sydney and Melbourne shows to fans getting in early to hear his ‘mona lisa’. Now that he has had a taste of touring life, he’s busily planning his own headline shows and Festival slots to be announced later this year.

.
ioakim is an impressive well rounded artist – writing, producing, directing all of his videos to date, designing all of the artwork and also creating, screen printing and selling out all of his own merch from upcycled vintage. As Pilerats put it, ioakim is “a multi-talented force”. With his previous releases ‘mona lisa’, ‘tongue tied’ and ‘swimming pools’ iaokim has received a great deal of media praise and featured on the airwaves of local radio stations including triple j, FBi, 3RRR and triple j Unearthed. He is a fresh take on the indie-pop music scene and with this new wave of music and touring incoming, 2022 is about to get even bigger and more exciting than ever for the 24 year old.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
