Just in time for Summer, South Coast bedroom producer ioakim today shares his dreamy new single ‘swimming pools’ accompanied by a bright and colourful official music video via Arcadia Records. It’s no doubt that with this new release, ioakim’s music is some of the finest indie dream pop bursting onto the scene.

Of this single, ioakim shares: “Swimming pools is about capturing the ultimate summer nostalgia. Written last year, it explores themes of love and relationships, encompassing the blissful feeling of being with someone you love. This wasn’t a literal theme for me, it was more an exaggerated / dreamt up feeling that lived in the back of my mind. Swimming pools was a way for me to look forward to summer with friends after a long winter of lockdowns.”

The electrifying music video sees ioakim singing and playing guitar underwater fittingly in a swimming pool. The guitar featured was one he retrieved via a road trip with friends and got it refurbished to near visual pristine condition, then after all of that it lived out its purpose by being thrown in a pool! It now lives as a prop in his home.

‘swimming pools’ follows ‘tongue tied’, ioakim’s recent single released earlier this year. During the time of writing ‘swimming pools’, he was listening to acts like girl in red, Passion Pit and Phoenix. These are some of his favourite artists that have had an influence on his music and inspired the new release. On the creation of the track he shares: “this song came together pretty quickly, being written and produced in my bedroom. It’s a constant reminder that you really don’t need much to capture how you’re feeling.” 

ioakim’s music and artistic vision is dream-like, nostalgic and care-free. Visually he knew what he wanted for ‘swimming pools’ and created the artwork by himself. The need to communicate is the reason he creates music, drawing on life experiences, aspirations and self growth. Everything in ioakim’s world feels like it was captured yesterday and now lives within your subconscious.
