TAME IMPALA’s 2015 song ‘The Less I Know The Better’ has been voted by triple j listeners as the #1 song in their Hottest 100 Of The Decade continuing Kevin Parker’s list of remarkable career highlights and accolades.
Released in 2015 on the widely acclaimed third album Currents, the song was one of 4 tracks to feature in the countdown for Tame Impala. ‘Let It Happen’ at #26, also lifted from the ‘Current’s album, ‘Feels Like We Only Go Backwards’ at #65 and ‘Elephant’ at #66 both taken from the 2012 Lonerism album.
Shout out also goes to HILLTOP HOODS with 3 songs in the Top 100. ‘Cosby Sweater’ from their double platinum selling 2014 album Walking Under Stars bolted into the chart at #20, ‘1955 feat. Montaigne and Tom Thum lifted from their 2016 Drinking from the Sun, Walking Under Stars Restrung album came in at #36 and their 2012 song ‘I Love It’ feat. Sia from Drinking From The Sun album was voted in at #67.
MATT CORBY, who won last year’s triple j Album Of The Year for Rainbow Valley, claimed two spots in the chart. Triple j listeners turned back the clock to his 2011 song ‘Brother’ and 2013 song ‘Resolution’ voting them in at #10 and #87, respectively. His song ‘Brother’, which was covered by THUNDAMENTALS for triple j’s Like A Version in 2012, was voted #177 in the chart.
Female fronted band THE PREATURES, who won the Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition for their 2013 single ‘Is This Is How You Feel?’ won the hearts of triple j listeners who voted the song in at #94.
Congratulations also goes to the THUNDAMENTALS, VERA BLUE, BOY & BEAR and THE NAKED AND FAMOUS whose songs released in the last decade were voted in the Top 200.
